It has long been eBay's policy to disallow the sale of items that it wishes.
As the eBay community expands to include many nations, it is important that our policy regarding these items be consistent throughout our global marketplace.
Therefore we are banning the sale of any item that contains the color . . . orange.
The new guidelines will take effect on May 17, 2001. At that point, all listings that
include the prohibited items listed above may be ended.
We hope that these guidelines will make eBay a more comfortable and welcoming place for all members of our global community.
Regards.

I've never liked that color, anyway.
Now if they would only prohibit all items with the letter "K" in the title, all will be right with the world.

Just register yourself as VERO for that word and close them yourself.

You think???? I don't know if eBay's functionalities could handle the strain of shutting down all those "rare" auctions at one time!

Quick, we need a code word to use, so that eBay's orange cops are fooled.
I remember Arlo Guthrie sang once that the only thing that rhymed with orange was Door Hinge, as he sang it "Doringe".
You could try that in your title!

YEEESSSSSSSS!
I distrust orange, always have, but loath the letter 'K'. You're all the first to hear of it.... I've never spoke it aloud.......
I need to register as L@@k........... gosh I hate that! L@@k yerself, you moron! what is it you got that you're pretty certain no one wants to see? It's not cute. It's not clever. Strictly wanna-be all the way.

i have a few questions about this new policy. what if an item isn't so much orange as tangerine in color, or coral? i can understand banning orange-yellow items, but what about yellow-orange, which are clearly more yellow than orange. also, what if one is selling oranges, but they aren't the kind in the grocery stores that are dyed orange, but are in fact yellow?
answers, i need answers!

If we ban Yellow, there goes green since you get green by mixing yellow and blue.
Green paper things with pictures of dead Presidents are my FAVORITE, so let's be careful about this....

Okay, I'm scared to post this (good thing this isn't my eBay handle) please help me out.
I need to list a widget that is, ummm, red & yellow. "Red & Yellow" make you-know-what (afraid to even type in out now). I need to sell this and get it out of my house ASAP (since eBay has banned it, I couldn't possibly be seen with it). G-d forbid my bidder's find out, my FB will be destroyed with retaliation!!!
So... under the new prohibition, if I use "r&y" in the title, will I have to dodge the eBay police (already hiding from the mattress police ~ never should have taken off that $%#@! tag)

My mother is Orange and although I didn't plan on selling her in the near future I still find this new rule disturbing.
Will this preclude orange in the background? I often like to photograph a small item with most of my apartment showing in the background and orange is my basic decorating color.
Are there any auction sites that are still "Orange" friendly?
Maybe I'll just have a "Orange" yard sale.
I'm just thankful they didn't ban taupe or mauve. I never have understood which was which.

Rats! I just prepared that back 40 acres for minature pumkins later this summer to sell on eBay this fall. Now I'm faced with the decision of changing crops or stocking up on some spray paint to make them eBay compliant.
How well would beige pumpkins be received?

I'm obviously missing something here or I'm completely stupid, but this thread has me completely puzzled.
Ebay has banned the color orange from listings? Why one earth would the color orange be banned from listings? Am I missing some sublimable message here or have the aliens landed and taken over Auctionwatch?

Personally, being of the non-color seeing sort (I AM NOT BLIND,unless my wife needs me to find the garbage, of course! ), I feel we should petition eBay to eliminate ALL COLORS!! It's an insult and offence to we, the minority who were born without the ability to differenitate between colors, because all we see is black and white. DOWN WITH COLOR-UP WITH BLACK AND WHITE!!! And while we are at it, lets get rid of those annoyingly large gif's that make auctions take forever to open on a modem-laden computer.

You're right! How prejudicial we have been! My apologies on behalf of the entire eBay community! I'm sorry that we have been so blatantly ignorant.
one question regarding the black & white idea:
Where would that leave shades of Gray?

Louissa-"Just funnin'"! Is that a word? If not, I'm officially making it one. You have to use this spelling too! I will be registering as the VERO owner so if I don't like the way it's used, I'll have the guilty party VERO'd
Edited to change my trademarked " just funnin'"-caught the Saturday Night Live crew using it already-the nerve of those people! Wonder which one of us will be given official OK to use it????

Orange Aliens. And they want everything orange that is on earth. Ebay is trying to make sure they don't get it all.
