I purchased this great little cowgirl suit at a yard sale yesterday. They had no idea how long they had it, "quite some time". It is made of suede leather (are they the same thing?) and is studded with metal and plastic stones. There is some corrosion on some of the skirt studs (how can these be cleaned, or should I leave alone and put in description?) I really am hoping for some help as to age of this outfit. The only tag says M Made in USA.

okay you two!. I know its not 50 or 60 years old, but it is not brand new either. I just want to be as truthful as possible when I write the description and really would appreciate some help here.

I was gonna say it looked as if it was from the late 60s 70s as I remember suede frills and vest and rinestone look was popular back then too but not so sure about the red color this could be mid 80s .

I too was thinking along 70's . the seams are no serged, just one edge laid over the other and sewn together. I can remember buying our teenage son a studsetter kit for christmas in 1975, it was all the rage then.
i really think it is a cute outfit for a little girl though, but very heavy.
the red is not as bright a red as shown in the picture

Looks like something worn in a parade or dance recital. Now all you need are the white cowboy boots with frills.

my guess would be 70's - I have red leather fringed jacket from then (I bought it new, so I know the date on it) - it sure 'nuff ain't as fancy as this little outfit, though!

Do I see little studs with rhinestones in the middle? My sister has a cowgirl outfit from 60 years ago that has those same things in it. It was purchased in Arizona, but the color was brown. Since the label says Made in America you know it is before we started importing. Not much is Made in America now That is a very cute outfit and in such good condition

Malady, it is definitely too heave for a dance recital, maybe a parade. I really think it was just a play outfit though
jmjones, yes, I remember red was a big color in the 70s
Libra63, were the "rhinestones" plastic? this was very simply made, like a play outfit.

I'm not sure of the age either, but would also guess it's from the 70s.
However, I do have the red felt cowboy hat with white stitching from the 50s that would match it perfecly.

I'd say it was from late 70's.
You know, when Travolta did that cowboy flick that was so popular?
The tag is recent.
