I have an old cedar chest I was thinking about listing. I've never sold large items. Any advise on how to ship, I don't have any idea about shipping costs? Thanks,

Karen

hi - there's a company Craters and Freighters...i've used them, but i can't find there website address..
but, they will give you an estimate via email.
Come to your location, crate and freight the item... pretty reasonable...

Hi!

We ship large items all the time from our Ebay sales. The website for Craters & Freighters is cratersandfreighters.com

For an item like a chest, if it can go via UPS (depends on how large it is), you will definitely save the buyer a small fortune by sending it that route. We had a set of antique chairs which Craters & Freighters e-quote came out to $412 to go to San Francisco. Thankfully, they just barely fit in UPS' size restrictions (sending 2 chairs in two separate boxes). Cost via UPS was only $46 X 2 (plus about $8 for 2 very large boxes).

If you need help, let us know how large the chest is and we'll see what we can do to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck!

P.S. Went from selling about $500-$1,000 on Ebay to $5,000-$10,000 by selling Antique Furniture on Ebay. AW "family" helped us get there...now we'll help re-pay the favor!!!

Harmony Grove Do you run into a lot of NPB when they hear the shipping cost's ?
I try to stay away from heavy items becouse it seems that I have a higher % NPB when shipping costs are up there . On a recent sale shipping costs exceeded the bid amount and it looks like I am not going to be paid on that one.

Hi again,

It depends on the height, width and depth of the items. A link to UPS' guidelines follows:

http://www.ups.com/using/services/packaging/oversize-guide.html

Your best bet may to see if separately they will qualify. Otherwise, Craters & Freighters may be the way to go. We send about 2-3 items per week using C & F and they do a Fabulous job! No, we don't work for them...just use their servics quote a bit.

Hi Skip555!

We clearly tell bidders to contact us with their city and zip code before bidding for a shipping quote. Many decide to take a pass but there are bidders who Want the item and are willing to pay the s & h.

So far, are only deadbeat furniture buyer was local!!

Have Fun!

harmonygrove...Thanx!!!....They would be sold/shipped separately, so I think the chair would probably make the limit...the coffee table, not so sure, will have to remeasure...
