I have a CD here in pretty good condition that I can't find anywhere on line. I don't deal much in CD and what to know a good starting price. It is a promtional CD of Diana Ross called I'm gone. with both the radio edit and the LP verision about tem minutes long. 1995 Motown Record company Exeitive productor is also Diana Ross. Is it worth the touble putting it up? what you think thanks ahead of time

I would make sure it is allowed on eBay first. Here's a link to eBay about promotional items.

Even if it is allowed doesn't mean it won't get shut down by a Vero member.

Good Luck!

Well I am not really concerned wether Ebay allows it or not but thanks for the tip. I do sell on ebay but I sell more on my sites and other auctions.

I asked the question here because this is the section that gets the most views.

The RIAA would have your ass in a minute if you put that online.

Plus, it's rumored that Ross is EXTREMELY protective about her stuff. Especially Promotinal Items.

Hmm let me see I went to the doc today and they said I needed to lose some weight and I wouldn't mind loss some of my a** I will keep the chest rather proud of that. Maybe this would be a good way to loose that A@@.

I myself don't know and don't care who the RIAA is. I paid a whole .50 cents for it it is now mine I don't care what they say. If they want to waste the time coming after me let them have fun. So if they are that protective it should give it a little value. I should get a few bucks for it.

Now Tina Turner I would never sell her stuff. If I can have the energy the life that woman has at her age when I get the then the gods are smiling!

Here is an idea I could give it away with another Diana Ross item as a bonus if I decide to put it on auction and not on a website. Like the relic sellers on ebay. They don't sell the relic they only sell the case yea right.

LOL, I could stand to lose most of my a**, and unfortunately, the weight never went up on top! LOL
I have no idea what the CD is worth, but I just bought a couple of promotional ones for my son.
Good Luck!

Traceyg,

What you have is usually called a "radio promo", as this is what the record companies send to radio stations to use for airplay. It is intended only for their use and it is not legal to be sold by anyone.

Whether you paid for it or not, or whether you "care" about the RIAA, still does not make it legal for you to sell it.

I have also heard that the RIAA is taking much more interest in these illegal sales. They will not sue you, most likely, but they will VERO your auctions and could get you suspended from eBay.

Now having said that, there are certainly a ton of auctions for radio promos on eBay and you can make fair money selling them - if you are willing to assume the above risks.

If your promo has a special mix on it, not available anywhere else, or has some nice pictures of the artist on it, you may make a few dollars off of it. Nearly all radio promos have two tracks - a "radio edit" of some sort, and an "LP version". In my experience these were very poor sellers on eBay. Your Diana Ross promo likely falls into this latter category.

I used to sell radio promos in the past but I do not anymore, because the increased eBay fees made it cost-prohibitive and also because of VERO fears. The ones I had remaining, I sold as a large lot (and I am sure that person is now selling them on eBay - and more power to him).
