I've been selling vintage jewelry for a couple years and I always have good luck with fur clips.

I recently aquired what appears to be a fur clip with a retractable chain attached to a "Golden Wheel" lighter.

Do y'all think this is a fur clip lighter combo?

Never seen such a thing. Why would you have a lighter attached to a fur clip.

Any suggestions on listing it?

Any idea of what it might really be ?

Your help is appreciated.

Hi jrb,

If you're using AW's Image Hosting you would put this in the thread without the *'s and change the places where I've bolded to reflect who you are:

[*img]http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/put the first 2 characters of your username here/put your username here/put the name of the image here (like picture.jpg[*/img]

If you're not using AW's Image Hosting, you can just use a url link to a page you may have it stored on by putting [*url] before the url and [*/url] after the url.

Hope that helps!

Fur clips have 2 prongs that are super sharp on back.
This one has a retractable chain.
I was just curious to see why someone would do a lighter fur clip.
Not very PC in so many ways.
Not to mention very good for the fur.
Thanks for the imaging help.

Seems strange to me. Not because smoking is not as common today as back then, and of course, the fire hazard, but since the lighter does not have the hinged prong to attach to the fur like the other piece, it just kind of dangles and swings loosely.

However, maybe that was chic back then and you have a rare piece.

Approximately how long is the chain when pulled out? Can you imagine wearing that, someone nearby gets out a cigarette and your husband, being the gentlemen he is, reaches over, grabs the lighter, pulls it over and lights the person's cigarette next to you?

Edited to add: I have a question for you jrb3, what is a dead rhinestone? Has it lost its luster, or is the stone missing?

A dead rhinestone is one that has a dark spot ot blackened look to it normally caused by the foilbacking discoloring.
This can be fixed bt replacing the stone or or removing the stone cleaning the foil of and resetting it.

The chain is only about 6" long.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Imagine:
Paulette Goddard in "The Women" grabbing it out long enough to light her own smoke...wearing a horrid mink given to her by Mr. H. Fowler!
(Not in the movie, by cracky!)
Just right for the street smart "Miriam Aarons"!!!

Okay, when is it up for auction?
