The auction page is not the only arena in which to promote your web stores, etc.
Send three eMail notices to every winning bidder. CONGRATS, PAYMENT RECEIVED, ITEM SHIPPED. Put your promotional links with information in the eMail communications. It does generate hits! And, eGod can't control it - yet. [Perhaps one day soon we will not see winning bidder eMail addys]

Can also do what I have been doing for over a year now Put your Web URL on all your Auction pictures.
They are not clickable but it does work also pervents most from useing your auction pictures.
add a links to your about me page in your listings and in your about me page put a java redirect to your website so everytime one clicks the about me link they are redirected to your web site.
make your auction pictures clickable to see Enlarge version add a clickable link to your web site on the page with the larger picture this keeps you just inside there two clicks rule.
And Why Just Add a link to your store in your Email why not go one Step farther and add Pictures of Items you think each buyer will be interested in with Prices Item details Turn your whole EOA into a small Store of its own one small Down fall to this is that some users can't veiw email with HTML formate so you would need to send a none HTML version along with it.

"listings and in your about me page put a java redirect to your website so everytime one clicks the about me link they are redirected to your web site. "
Doesn't have to be java, you can use an html refresh meta tag.

The second is that the buyers will be REALLY PISSED OFF at the massive download and probably fire the whole thing right back at you, with a few JPEGs of their own, or their LINUX distribution tarball.

According to eBay you may not use your website url in your pictures, or in a copyright notice.
"Hello Jeff,
Thanks for writing in to eBay with your question. You are only allowed
to use your name or user id on the photo. Any possible links to a web
address are not allowed.
Good luck!
Regards,
(Name removed to protect the mouthpiece)

Original Message Follows:
-------------------------
I need a ruling on this. On each of my images, at the bottom of the
image it says "© www.drexelantiques.com" My website and company are
incorporated in the state of North Carolina as www.drexelantiques.com.
May I continue putting this on my images, or must I quit? The pictures
and items "belong" to my company, not to me personally. If I may not put
this, what copyright notice may I put? I don't see how eBay would not
allow me to put a copyright notice on my images.
As a hypothetical question, would it be permissible to add a text
message to the description like: "All images and text ©2001
www.drexelantiques.com"? I need to know if either, or both of these are
allowed, and need a 100% answer as I do not want to do either and have
my auctions ended. I can't believe eBay would not allow a seller to
place a copyright notice in his auctions."

If the infomation Ebay sent you about domain URLs in your auction pictures is true they will need to get tougher have you ever seen the photo for auctions from auction watch and other services ????
I have always used my domain name on my picture with no trouble I leave off the www part but it is on the bottom of every auction picture then again my website never directly advertize Items for sale this may be the difference.

Ebay wants to (and will) dominate all who dare enter.
Workarounds will not be tolerated.

Drexel:
I just changed my user ID from XXXXXX which was NOT related to my website, to XXXXXX.com
So, according to their rules, I CAN place XXXXXX.com in my photos, since it is my User ID.
HA!
Hopefully they will still allow this type of USER ID in the future. )

But the reply from eBay says link
not url.
Why can't you use your url if it doesn't link to your site?

You could also add a watermark to your photos you list on your auctions. If you do not know what a water mark is. It's typing over your picture. If you own photoshop 6.0 you can do it very easy. just place a little more room on the bottom of the picture. and place either your email address or your www. If ebay barks you tell them that that's your way of preventing people from stealing your pictures
just a thought

Kidsfeet, that's briliant.
We should expect eBay to soon announce you cannot have a URL as your user name.
So everyone - grandfather yourself in...
