My sales are now Off 97%, I added 20 New Product as well some that would selling fast 3 months ago. Some of my items are now at wholesale. I was doing close to $1,500 a month in sales so I must have been selling the right items?. Can it be the layoffs, Oil prices, Fee increases! Is the market flooded with items that buyers don't need? Toys sales last year were at an All-Time high in the USA. Last word from KB toy's, 90% of their management will not receive a raise! If you cann't sell toys on ebay, what else!

I have noticed bid amounts down this past week as well. Hopefully next week will be better.

Actually this was a banner week for sales on Ebay for me not at december and january levels but compared to the end of april and frist week in may it was great.

This is that time of year when I find veiws on my auctions pick up big time but thats about all lots of late night windows shoppers.

last year sales dropped off after easter and didnt start to pick up again till the end of july great time to get out and find new inventory for the next rush.

As BB King said -the thrill is gone! Time to move on. I think many of us can say we saw ebay in it's heyday! Who wants to wait the next 20 years to see it repeat?

EVERYTHING on eBay runs in cycles. One week toys will sell great, the next week it'll be something else. There are a few things that do well no matter what because they're truly highly-coveted collectibles and the buyers for those items have money no matter what and are shopping no matter what.

Typically spring through summer is a slow time. People are spending less time at their computers and more time doing outside things.

I sell mostly collectibles--the type of things that don't move well during the Christmas holiday season. But, last fall I managed to get a few items that did splendidly through the holiday season. Then after Christmas I went back to my collectibles and did pretty fair until I got so mad at eBay I couldn't list.

I sort of got un-irritated and decided to put on a few listings a couple of weeks ago because I'd really like to move some of my inventory out of here. Out of 11 auctions 3 closed with bids and those were opening bids.

This just isn't the best time to be selling.

YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!! Except for a few "Buy It Now" surprises, my sales have been down, down, down the past three weeks. I keep blaming it on the marginal quality of my remaining inventory. I guess (gulp) we can't say buyers haven't received their IRS/state refunds yet--because they HAVE, and they still aren't buying! Glad I have a REAL day time job!

eGad! And I thought the SciFi movie "Inferno" was bad tonight!

My sales are great, but I tire of telling why and nobody listens...

My sales have been great and I am considering selling all summer.

I think more folks will shop online rather than drive all over to stores. Gas is $2.00/gallon makes people want to stay close to home.

I watch several other sellers who are usually pretty sucessful in my area and notice some haven't listed for several weeks or don't have the 100% sales rate.

My auctions close with a bidder at least 90%--sometimes 100%. I just start the bid price at a reasonable price and try to be flexible.

I only list about 25-30 items a week and 2 weeks ago I thought of giving up for the summer. But things have picked up for me again. Not the same high bids as winter, but things are selling at good enough prices for me to keep going.
What I have noticed is the weekends for me are really dead except for very late night or early morning bids. 8:00 am Saturday morning I get bids and emails, then it dies untill midnight or so, then I get bids again and emails. This is even from repeat customers that this last winter bought a lot from me during "more normal" hours.
Weekday evenings have been much better for me.
Right now I've got maybe 7 or 8 auctions closing today at my usual "traditional" times and I'll bet I don't get the usuall snipers that really make me happy doubling the sale amount in the last couple minutes. Also, I bet my emails will be dead untill late tonight and most will come in tomorrow.
Bottom line for me.....I think summer will mean moving to Weekday evening closes on my auctions to get better prices.
Yes, I know 25-30 auctions a week is pathetic to most of you, but I do see patterns as this is a consistent amount for me.
This year I'm going all through summer, We'll see what happens.

After two VERY, VERY slow weeks my auctions are starting to show some signs of life again! Still not the sales I was seeing around the end of March when I had items selling for three and four times what I expected.

Maybe I will start to end auctions on weeknights instead of weekends. Is there any real effect to this? Let me know, I would appreciate some feedback on this theory!

My last round of auctions was my "going out of business" sale. I started everything at $1 with no reserve. I had winners on everything and I was astounded at most of the closing prices. There were only maybe 3 items that sold for disappointing final bid prices, the rest sold for more than I had expected.

Now, I can only hope that they all actually pay up! I have had a real deadbeat problem lately.

My sales have slowed but it is the typical slow down for the season. I will now start putting the average stuff up until fall.

So how dead is ebay? Ebay is so dead that when I beat on it I hear beethoven groan.

So how dead is Ebay? Ebay is so dead that my dog can't even find a bone to bury.

So how dead is Ebay? Ebay is so dead they thought they saw the mumified king tut coming out its doors. Turned out is was Micheal Jackson sporting a new look.

okay back to work

I don't know what I was thinking but put 80 auctions up for a penny no matter what they were .... yikes.... but I did put them up for 10 days.... turned out OK, everything got bids, and some good ones, only 3 ended at .06 cents LOL AND I was overflowing with PayPal/Billpoint payments in one day.

I may try it again

I sold a bunch of CDs two weeks ago for an average price of $5 each.

I listed the same exact CD titles last Sunday, and they ended tonight with an average price of about $1.65.

ebay is so dead my hubby decided to take a FT job outside of ebay so we can survive!
He got a great job though & takes the pressure off of making everything work just on ebay income.
I'm telling you it was a sink or swim situation & we were almost sinking as ebay wasn't happening!

I agree with everyone all of a sudden, all the bidders disappeared. The end of march & beginning of April was okay but the last 2 weeks have been SOOOOOO slow.

I think the changes in the category structers had something to do with the slowness on ebay. One thing I've noticed is that no one is stating what cateories are doing well. Over 6 million people listed and we're worried about competition? Give me a break. If bidding was even that fierce, more listings would be closing with bids on them. Who has the data? Come forth all ye faithful!

i can't tell yet. got auctions closing tomorrow, wednesday and thursday evenings. this is my first try for thursdays.

so far, not many bids, and it's making me a bit nervous - especially on the ones closing tomorrow. i'm trying to remind myself that when i started i wasn't at all nervous when there were few bids the day before closing, since most of the activity was in the last hour ... or seconds. but the last batches i've put up had a lot more bids by the day before the end of the auctions.

empires, i think you're right about the categories. where i sell there used to be one, now it's been divided up into 10 or more. i worry people don't yet get how to search them, and i'm not yet comfortable using the new ones for this reason.

Very, very morbidly dead for past three weeks
(other than the usual "Buy It Now" surprises). Like I said before, "I'm sure glad I have a day job!"

I rarely if ever complain about poor sales but this week has been truly bad. I noticed that even the biggest sellers in the area I sell in are seeing rock bottom bids if they get bids at all, so I know it's not just me. Most of my sales this week end on Wednesday and most likely they will all get a bid or two at the end, but it isn't typical for my stuff to only get one bid, or only get last minute bids. I think everyone is bored with Ebay and going outside to play.

thanks for that link ... i think . perhaps sales will pick up again. i see they looked pretty bad in january.

jury's in for tonight's batch - nothing except a few more bids on the items that already had bids. doesn't bode well for the rest of my auctions ending this week. so much for the theory of sales being better for auctions ending on weekdays vs weekends - at least for what i sell. one item in particular i don't get - *great* item, relisted, ended with no bids. weird. worrying.
