I keep seeing in here mention of keyword spamming and I just don't understand what that is.

I'm guessing it's putting a word in your description that doesn't really have much to do with yur item?

If so, what would be the point of doing that?

Here is ebay's policy on Keyword Spamming.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-wordspam.html

It's often used to drive traffic to an auction even though that auction may have nothing to do with the word used.

I had an auction ended yesterday for alleged keyword spamming. I had a watch listed, which was manufactured and waranteed by company Y, a well-known watch company, and released with the logo of company X, a well-known leatherware maker. So I used both X and Y in my title. Was I keyword spamming? I have no idea, as ebay's policy on keyword spamming doesn't mention my situation...

IOW, their policy is lacking, and the reps who dictate what is and what isn't a violation are lacking even more...

Even the powerseller rep hasn't been able to clarify why they ended my auction.

Bingo Julesy. The reps are just trained . . . .reps . . . they aren't investigators, they don't read the descriptions or use any discernment or common sense.

Big problem in my view.
