I have a customer who wishes to return an item they purchased off of half.com There is no problem with the item or anything, just that someone wound up buying them the same item as a gift. However, being that this particular item had to be sent from Canada, it wound up costing a fair bit more than the provided shipping. My question is this. Would you refund the whole cost (definately not refunding the shipping paid) or would you charge a restocking fee? I don't mind taking back an item as long as it's still resellable, but it is a hassle and takes time away that could and should be spent on actually getting more sales, and I don't see why I should take a hit for this person's change of mind.

I charge a 15% restocking fee if the return isn't due to a mistake on my part. I also do not refund shipping & handling fees unless I made a mistake. And I NEVER make partial refunds. It's all or nothing (AFTER the item has been returned to me and inspected).
