I just recevied a notice from ebay that I qualify for a bronze membership in the powersellers program. I'm wondering if it's something I should join. I work a real job full-time, this is supposed to be a hobby. I don't know if buyers like buying from a small time person like myself, or if the powerseller logo in my ads will make people trust me more. What do you guys think?

If you can get the support and information that'd be good..I know some buyers are turned OFF by the PowerSellers Logo.

I've been a bronze level power seller for nearly two years... I've NEVER used the logo though.
So far, there have been ABSOLUTELY NO PERKS for being a Power Seller.

I agree with Dottie, I have been a bronze seller for over 1 1/2 years and other than email support, which any more is non exsistant, it has no perks at all. I don't use the logo either, it seems to turn buyers off.

The Powerseller program is an imaginary program initiated by eBay to somehow "reward" us high volume seller for our efforts. I say "imaginary", as the truth is that the program adds no benefit at all to its members other than the ability to add the coveted "Powerseller Log" to our listings. Oh Boy!!!
With silver status, you'll now have the ability to leave phone message with eBay customer support. This is an upgrade from the non responsive email services standard members receive.
In addition, members of our coveted group also get to adhere to special conduct rules not afforded to standard sellers. You'll be given the priveledge of monitoring your feedback to make sure a cetain percentage of the feedback comments you receive are positive, as negative feedback over an above eBay's rulings might exclude you from our special group.
From time to time, eBay at its sole discretion will advise us of special events exclusively for us special Powersellers. I'm still waiting by the phone for my invitation and I've been a member since inception.
Now, the very best benenfit! With powerseller selling status, you will soon receive every self-serving eBay email offer that can dreamed up. Special offers for eBay's overpriced and upderperforming auction listing and management software, special credit card payment offers from their magnificent Billpoint payments service (oh, and watch the chargebacks), eBay merchandise offerings and the ability to participate in eBay questionaires to determine angles on how best to screw users. The list goes on and on.
Congratulations! Welcome to our special group. Kindly click the acceptance box indicating that you have read the full diosclosure of your benefits and the rules of conduct, grab your ankles and get in line.
Not computerboy anywhere but here.

NO -- take it from a Silver power seller of 2 plus years. No perks -- no discounts -- just more rules to follow. You do get canned answers quicker from tech support when you inquire why Ebay is down again.... But in general is does little for sales.

Yes, we all like that part...
It took me a while to get used to it, but after repeated offenses, it is now part of my online selling life.

WOW, you're a SILVER Power Seller!?!?!?!
"bend over and grab your ankles"!!!! Gee, it looks like the SILVER power sellers get more *ACTION* than us lowly Bronze PS's....... you are truly an INSPIRATION and I *carefully* bow to your greatness! LOL
Thanks for sharing your remarks on this topic. *smile*

It's not really of any value until you get to the Platinum level. Meg stops by once a month and does the laundry.

She only does the laundry if you promise to list the items after the wash in premium catagory listings.

Well in the day and age that everyone is worried about getting ripped off via auctions and the like. I'd say a good feedback rating, a power seller logo and quick responce to peoples e-mails isn't really a bad thing at all.
I use it. The smallest one available... and can't really see too much negative about it at all!!

Up until last fall I was miffed that they never invited me to become a Powerseller. After all, I've sold a lot of stuff over the last 2 1/2 years. Then miraculously, it came--the invitation to be bronzed, but I didn't join up. They send me one invitation every month or two now, but if sales don't pick up that'll change.

My sales are up... but I am listing more these days as well... all I know is that my average price is rising.. which I like to see.

As a buyer AND a seller (part-time), I usually don't deal with "Power Sellers", because whenevr I see that logo, I immediately think "TV Trash"...most of the time I can find it elsewhere cheaper...but that's just me

I assume full responsibility for my actions, except
the ones that are someone else's fault.

No perks to the Powerseller program. I use the logo in my about me page. Have some of the lowest prices per product on ebay! If you don't have a logo, don't worry about it. It all works out the same, you list you pay!

I have been a bronze PowerSeller for a couple of years. Yes, I think it's worth it.
It is worth joining PowerSellers, if only for the email support. I had an issue yesterday with Mr. Lister and sent an email to PowerSeller support. They figured out my problem and sent me a personal reply within a few hours. (This was not an obvious fix, either. They had to do a little research.)
I also use an iconized (small) version of the PowerSellers logo in some of my ads.

One of the most difficult bidders I ever encountered is a Power Seller. I reviewed her feedback on vrane and find she has quite an attitude.
Just because someone is a power seller does not mean they have great salesmanship skills.

We are Gold Powersellers.
We do not us the Powerseller logo in our auction because it does turn people off.
At the Gold Level you get an account manager who you deal with directly. We have received very quick responses to any problems we have had.
That being said, we did not get alot of benefit until we hit Gold level.
