Pickings were very slim at the few we went to, tho I did get a nice neon Marlboro light. They are hard to ship safely tho so it may never get to ebay.
Beter luck today, I hope.

We did not have much time yesterday. I may go to a few today but we do better on Thur/Fri when most people are working.
I will go to the library book sale today as it is the half price day.

It is raining here today. No yard saling for me. Oh well, maybe I'll actually use the time to do something else productive (clean house, pay bills, etc). No, I'll probably surf the internet all morning reading discussion boards.
But, I do love a good story about people's treasure hunting. Please share!

Mother called to say she'd found a stack of old sheet music for me stuffed in the back of a closet at Auntie's house. I'm not sure what exactly it is, but am looking forward to listing it. She said one was a thick book from 1909 with children's piano music, and lots of the individual sheet music pages were "really old with pretty pictures"
I'm anxious to see what Auntie had tucked away in that closet. Could be fun!

Last week I bought a pair of headlight lenses for a Model A Ford. I looked at them and put them down twice because I didn't know if they would be worth anything. I usually sell fabric. Finally, I thought, what the heck, they're only $2.00. They just sold for $ 56.00. That sure was a surprise. Yesterday, I found a pair of barkcloth drapes in good condition. I guess people like to collect the fabric and some of it sells pretty high. I'm looking forward to auctioning them.

Hi Everyone!!
I went to a garage sale a couple weeks ago. I bought a book that looked promising. When I got home I noticed there was a little piece of paper...it had an ebay Item number on it! I looked up the number, on eBay and it was for this book! It never sold and didn't sell the second time they listed it either! I imagine other items at that sale, were from things that didn't sell on eBay.
I think we will be seeing more and more of this at garage sales and thrift stores.
I wish I had a computer with me at all times to see what sells and what does not! (don't we all
I went to one yesterday. As I approached the sale..someone was paying for an item I know I would have picked up! ;-( I guess it pays to get there as early as you can.
This Morning, my Son and Daughter went to the city and found some garage sales. They found me a gas log insert, for our fireplace, for only $19.00! It works and everything is included! My Son found a pair of new Oakley shoes for $16.00! My Daughter found great clothes at bargain prices!
Good finds today!
squinkle99I know what you mean about the weather but I like it even better when it rains! To me, that means less people are out at the garage sales. More for me! (just don't forget the umbrella...
Hope You All will have lots of fun bargain hunting and hope all your finds will bring in lots of $$$$ for you!!

Not a bad weekend. The weather is very gusty, so I didn't go far this weekend, but found some nice stuff.
A beautiful hundred year old oil painting of a deer for $5 - will probably put that on consignment rather than eBay.
A wonderful pineapple lamp made of orange lucite balls - $2.
A pineapple s&p set that is a Hawaii souvenir - 50c.
A figural condiment set MIJ - 50c.
Anchor hocking punch bowl and cups with original box - $2.50.
Some clothes for me and the "boarder." And for the kitties, this neat duck on a stick that you push - it has rubber feet that make a funny slapping noise as it walks. So far two are afraid of it, but my "middle son" attacked it.

Box of Anchor Hocking and Fireking dishes - $3.00.
Eight Limoges chintzware plates - $5.00.

Box of Life and assorted other magazines from 1951 - $5.00.
A brand new bread machine - $5.00.
Box of Rogers silverplate - .75 cents!
My best find of the week was a mint condition Hummel figurine for .25 cents - according to the website it's worth $180.!

For some reason most of the garage sales here are on Sat. and they all seem to start at 8AM. Makes it hard to get to them, I have to pick whatever sounds the best and hope I'm right. I did find a practically new Bunn coffee maker for 5.00. I paid 99.00 for mine new. Also found a set of Glass Horsehead bookends, with the original cottonballs inside and the labels on the bottom. I never knew those things came stuffed with cotton balls.

I got up early and went to a yardsale advertised as having tons of vintage sewing stuff, but it was almost all ugly fabric less than 20 years old and overpriced at that. I did buy a new package of boning for a quarter. I visited a few other garage sales but the pickings were very slim. Most of the people around here are computer-savvy and finally seem to have caught on to Ebay. It makes me long for the days when I used to stock my flea market booth almost entirely from yard sale finds.
I had better luck at two thrift stores. Found a brand-new blouse for myself for work, as well as some washcloths for my bathroom and a couple of file boxes for the office...all for 3.50. Finally found something to sell on Ebay at the 2nd store....a book on ancient Roman coins. After that, I went home. I already have a ton of stock I need to list, plus gas is just too expensive to drive around hoping for a score. Hope everyone else had better luck.

My only real find was a Coach Beekman briefcase in like new condition for $2.00--retails for over $400.
Saw a fairly convincing Louie Vuitton purse but on close inspection I decided it was a fake. Saw a fake Gucci bag for $5.00 but I passed on the fake goods--they're worthless when the auction is vero'd.

The townwide sale I always look forward to was infested with other ebay sellers today. (Its a first, and you can tell us every time!)
I found some cool stuff for myself, bought a jar of apple butter from an Amish lady, and my main find of the day was a super Nintendo system with tons of accessories and 18 games for $10.
Also found an AOL 2.0 disk for 25¢.

Wow! I am surprised but happy for you folks who can still find things. I quit selling but I do go to sales occasionally to look for items for myself and still I come home with nothing.
I work at a large thrift store and I can tell you that we *never* get nice things in. So if you find something at a thrift store, count yourself lucky! Most of what we get is complete junk and now we are getting the yard sale left-overs which is really bad.
Sad thing is the book sales are bad here now too. The libraries have caught on to eBay and now have fewer sales or when they do have sales, books are priced individually and high at that. Those used to be so much fun!
At work we always comment about how things have changed with donations over the years. And we all agree that right now is worse than ever because of the internet and the many consignment shops in the area.
Good luck to all of you!

Wow, I am so thankful for my area! I have an awesome source I go to regularly that is my main eBay income ~ I am able to usually double or triple my money. The people who run it are pretty much clueless and have asked me before if I sell "on the internet" like that's as far as they know. They don't even know what eBay is.
As far as garage sales go, I am looking forward to the few times I can go this summer....I have two kids under age two so have to get a babysitter. Most of the places I go to have tons of stuff that looks good ..... it's fun to read on here the stuff that is "hot" so I know what to look for.
Wish I had more time, I could probably find lots of goodies!
