I accidently shipped a whole box of ladies designer shoes to a man who won six polo golf shirts and vice versa.
These were the only two packages I shipped that day so I know who has what.
The lady who won the shoes contacted me right away when she received the shirts. I offered to pay shipping plus extra for her time to ship the shirts to the man who won them. She agreed. I emailed the man who got the shoes with the same offer, no response. I know he wouldn't look good wearing ladies designer shoes on the golf course and figured he'd be willing to send them back and get his shirts. The packages were shipped 10 days ago Priority.
I know this is my mistake and will probably end up refunding the nice lady for the shoes. I thought about pulling the mans contact info and calling him.
Any ideas on how to get him to give up the shoes?

If he hasn't responded to your eMails... definitely consider obtaining his contact information via the eBay site map (left hand column about middle way down) - Search, Find Members and then Request Contact Information.
Follow those links and eBay will send you the telephone number they supplied at the time of registration (and they will receive yours too via eMail).
Give them a call.

Hi!
First email both winners stating what has happen with the shipping. Then tell both to ship the items to each other and send them both the cost of the shipping. Mark it up as an ebay mistake.

I agree with Dottie -- pull his contact info and make a contrite phone call. The man is more likely to understand your sincerity if you talk to him, than with an email.
I made a similar mistake last year, but was able to clear it up with email. Only had to ask one winner to ship an item to another, and thanked her profusely (she was also a seller, so that helped.
I don't think it's advisable to "tell" either of them to do something -- more appropriate to ask sweetly.

Everyone screws up, and as long as they are willing to admit it there is seldom a problem. Earlier this month I had the same mistake. One buyer had left positive feedback on receipt of his incorrect item and the other buyer sent email saying "How are we going to resolve this?"
Both buyers were very cooperative in mailing back the items, I reimbursed their shipping fees and added a little extra merchandise to make up for their troubles. I ended up spending about $20 extra bucks in shipping on the deal, but both buyers were extremely happy and understanding of the mixup. I'll bet you a nickel your buyers understand the mixup and will cooperate also.
Buyers and sellers ARE basically good. I think this message board can cause you to lose sight of that at times.

The thing is, I've emailed him three times with no reply. By now I'm thinking maybe he wants to keep the shoes (a wife that loves them maybe}.
I will call him in the morning and he'll likely tell me he has the shirts if he wants to keep the shoes.
I will email the nice lady that won the shoes with the auction number of the shirts so she can confirm that those are the shirts she has. Then I can tell him that he does not have them, she does.
I don't want to start a war here. I just want the rightful owners to get their items.

Maybe the guy or his lady, want to keep the shoes.
I did the same thing a year ago and shipped 2 white glass rhinestone bracelets of different styles that closed 10 days apart but were paid the same day to wrong people.
I offered to pay s&h plus refund original s&h.
The same day both buyers contacted me asking if there was any way they could keep the wrong one we all agreed and everyone was happy.
