I am always stymied by problems involving pictures hosted by hosting services -- don't know how to troubleshoot those. HOWEVER, if you store your pictures at your ISP, or on your personal web site, you can change the picture any time you want to. Just replace the current file with the new file, and you're on your way.
Two things to be sure you do: Be sure the name is the same name as in your auction HTML. Also, probably a good idea to go to the link above and go through eBay's process -- that probably updates it in their system.

pictures are stored here at AW. the problem is I put a picture of one auction that is currently running as the gallery picture of another auction that is currently running.
I can't replace the picture because I need it for the other auction
these items are not even close, so when someone goes into auction, they are going huhhhh?????
