I'm doing a quick survey to see how many user ID's the average eBay user has and what they use them for.

http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/5852/auctionsurvey.htm

It shouldn't take more than 3-5 minutes. I'll post the results in this forum when I'm done tabulating them.

Thanks!

Three. I had one for selling and one for buying, but my mother and two sisters are on ebay and I would get comments like "Oh, I see you are interested in so-and-so", or "That looked like a nice lamp you picked up on ebay", so I started a third one I'm not telling them about for some privacy.

Two. I buy and sell using both. My relatives only know about one of them, though, so I can buy Christmas presents and, um, sell Christmas presents with the second ID.

skip555 absolutely! No sense in keeping data to ourselves

Is everyone actually completing the survey or just posting it here. I can only cross-tabulate the results if they're done in the context of the survey.

I figure I should have the results either late this week or very early next.

Thanks!

Three. I share one of these with my husband - we use it to buy and sell. I have two others that I use for buying.

I have had over 200 but I can't remember them all offhand. I now only use 2 of them though.

This is why you take eBay's "19 million registered users" with a grain of salt.

Oh, I have just one.

I'm curious...who are you doing the survey for? What's the purpose?

It's the ebay police, trying to get rid of Mom & Pop's. That's why I have 3, no one will know who I am!!

LOL!!

Who is "ourselves".....and what's the purpose of the "survey"?

Identify yourself. Credentials? How many IDs do you have?

Just like those annoying dinnertime telephone surveys. I say, "Why"?....and, have a nice day! No personal info given.

Heck, if you read the boards, you already know our life histories.

Have a nice day

So many ID's, so little time.

Some we sell with, some we buy with, some are just there because we wanted the name.

We use 3 or 4 or 5 most of the time.

LOL, no eBay Police, no eBay affiliation. Just writing an article about what people use multiple ID's for. Wanted to quantify the numbers.

beachbound hope I didn't come across like a telemarketer. Sorry if I did.

I use several, either for selling, buying or just because I/my wife liked the name. And we use the same ones everywhere. We do, after all, like to keep some things personal (esp. GIFT BUYING!!! )

I have one official one used for buying and selling and one fun one used sometimes (rarely) for posting on the boards. It's the spanish version of my ID that someone gave me. I haven't used it in so long, I almost forgot I had it!

I have two. I do all my buying and selling with one account. The second is for VeRO.

eBay requires VeRO (that is, VeRO Plus) members to maintain an About Me page. Since I VeRO somebody infrequently (maybe once a year), I don't want that VeRO stuff up on my primary About Me page. (Can you imagine logging onto a seller's About Me page and reading, "that's why I nailed your auction, you two-bit loser, etc.?" It would be a waste of my About Me page and insulting to my customers.)

Personally, perhaps I a paranoid, but I am not comfortable in answering such surveys when I don't know for a fact who is behind them, and what type of clandestine information their site may collect on me while I answer their survey.

Sorry, can't respond to such.
