Just found 2 bid retractions on one of my auctions. Checked the idiots out and between them they have 21 retractions in the last month and 81 retractions in the last 6 months!!
A new experience for me, so I visited eBay's explanation about bid retractions and found this statement:
We will thoroughly investigate bid retractions, and abuse of this feature may result in the suspension of your eBay account. Oh Please!! Give me a break. Like h**l they do or will.
These creeps are on my blocked bidder list now, and I've sent an angry note to SafeHarbor (like that's going to do any good). This would seem to be an easy problem to automate a solution to, and why they don't do so is a mystery to me.
Willing to bet they are minors, too, which is another irritation, but....oh well, now I've vented. Thanks.

Happened to me. I cancelled bids and reported her to ebay. They hemmed and hawed until I was able to get them to understand why I said something. 21 retractions in 12 days!!!!!!
What happens, her friend comes in with 18 retractions and bids. UGH! I ended the auctions.
ebay said they warned them, but it sounds like you and I must have gotten the same bidders.

Islander, I had one with less retractions than yours. I turned them in to Safe Harbor, with a note saying how many retractions they had and 2 days later they were suspended. If at first you don't succeed, try again, it does work!

I had one bidder retract bids on 4 of my auctions in a single day. I checked their history and found 90+ retractions in 6 months. I turned the bidder in to SafeHarbor and they replied saying that they had warned the bidder. I checked in on the bidder a few days later and found more retractions. I sent this in to SafeHarbor, and they replied saying that they gave the bidder a second warning. A few days later, his retraction count had increased again. I sent another e-mail to SafeHarbor and 24 hours later the bidder was suspended. I wasted a lot of time on that bidder, but bid retractions seriously bug me....Ebay only seems to investigate bid retractions when the bidder has a large number of them or if they bidder gives a reason for the bid retraction that is against Ebay rules.

I emailed ebay repeatedly regarding this situation. Basically they told me "excessive" bid retractions are addressed. So, I had to ASK, what they consider to be "excessive". I was told over 4.
This line of questioning went back and forth and I finally realized, they don't do ANYTHING unless we report them. (This holds true for those people with a gazillion negs too!) So, you are forced to stay on top of ebay regarding such. I hate bid retractors and their stupid reasons. My last one typed in "I found it elsewhere and cheaper to boot." I was livid. Ebay did issue a warning, but it took me 3 or 4 emails to get them to realize it was the guy's 5th retraction and the reason didn't fit their unenforced rules!

i don't understand this. ebay has the info on how many retractions, neg ratio, etc. how hard could it be to have something in place that automatically flags this?
81 retractions in *6 months*?!? in all the time i've been on ebay, i've never done one!
