I have several bidders now that have bid on some items, auction closed, they confirm but tell me they plan on bidding on some of our other items to combine shipping...ok no problem at all, but I have one that is doing this every time new auctions list and keeps putting off two weeks worth of wins and another that looks like they are going the same way. How do we kindly say we combine shipping BUT....
Have any of you had this problem and how did you handle it?

I'm actually pretty easy on it and let these things drag on for a couple of weeks (the more purchases the merrier for me and eBud helps me keep it all straight).

But I know that's not realistic for a lot of sellers.

I see some sellers put a time limit on combined purchases in their auction listings. They say something line "We'll gladly combine shipping on all auction purchases within a seven-day period."

It's non-offensive and lets buyers know upfront that they can't drag out their purchases over a long period.

I find myself in this same situation lately.
I love all the bids, but .......

I have one right now that's ran past the 30 day mark. I don't mind waiting, but floating $250+ worth of merchandise for over 30 days is getting to be a bit much. Thank god most of my repeat bidders square up within 2 weeks.

I always encourage my customers to buy more by combining shipping. However, I do ask them to pay within 2 weeks of auction end if they are on a binge. This way, I'm not floating a loan beyond the normal NPB/FVF cycle (if it becomes necessary). One customer hit over a dozen auctions in 4-5 weeks before I packed it all and shipped. He had no problem sending me weekly checks for his buys (less posted S&H fees).

I tell them I only combine shipping on items purchased within 7 days of the first auction won. I have never had a complaint.

Looks like I just had my first multiple repeat bidder deadbeat. Damn, she just racked up two negs today & appears to have stiffed me on 4 items. I don't normally leave negs, but if in 24 hours I haven't heard back from her, it's going to be neg city.

I've tried phoning several times & all I get is a busy signal. Most likely busy screwing some other poor sap out of their time & money.

I've contacted the seller who left the 2 negs, and he said there's going to be 8 more left for her. She refused to pay him on 10 items.

Ouch.

Multiple bids should be for current auctions and they should be paying the full fare for existing wins as they go--you can adjust for any final items. This eliminates some of the incentive to leave a seller holding on several items.

Remember the distinction is to have good "paying" customers. Some money in the hand beats a volume of promises.

I generally wait one week between the time my auctions expire and new ones get listed.

The reason? I want to give buyers a chance to all get their payments in the mail before they start latching on to items in the next big batch. I state that payment is due within 10 days just to get them going.

STILL, I currently have 2 users who have managed to bridge the gap between the "auction sessions" and are creating a "float" problem.

Ya' know, as a buyer, I always thought it was MY responsability to get the payment to the seller AND NOT to have to be reminded by them one or more times. I expect the same courtesy from my buyers, but occasionally do not get it.

I wish people would grow up a little.
