I had 77 of 100 close successfully with a total of 222 bids on the 77 auctions. Excellent sales percentage and some really good profit. It was the best week I've had in a long time!

Those are some impressive numbers. What's the catch? Are you selling dollar bills for half price?

80 out of 80 for the last time, ones that ended last week. 10 day auctions with 1 cent start bid, got the price I would usually get, and some a lot better, and only 3 got the 1 cent or a 6 cent end bid.

Here is a quick question:
I have 100 percent sell through of the collectible item that I know and love. I only list 2-5 a week, though.
BUT I did get a stash of books and magazines. I have had good luck with amazon but a group of magazines that I thought would go for even minor amounts are just sitting there like rocks.
I don't mind experimenting, but I wonder how often do you relist? I am tempted to make them recycle fodder but I know there are hits, and I am guessing I am starting too high.
So how often do you relist? Do you drop prices radically? I might be to brutal with the descriptions, but I hate the thought of someone getting something with riffled corners and I didn't say anything.
Anyhow, other than these three coconuts, I am doing great, but I am seeing that I should stick with what I know!
Thanks!

Are you looking for the truth or would you like me to tell a big lie?

Capriole,

Typically I relist no more than 4 times. The first time I relist, I keep the price the same. I figure that it could have just been a bad week. The second time I relist, I usually cut the price in half in an attempt to entice bidders who have seen the auction before to bid on the item. The third time, I start the item at $1.00 (even if it would be selling at a loss) in an effort to get more than one bidder involved, raise the price (and of course sell the item.) The fourth time I try it again at a $1.00 just to see what happens. However, I almost ALWAYS sell the item on the 3rd relist or before.
That said... I think you could approach your magazines from a different angle. Are they older magazines? Any magazine from the 80's or older is probably worth more for their advertisements then for their content. If you cut the advertisements out of the magazines, you can sell them between $1.00 - $30.00 apiece! (you can easily make $20 - 100 per magazine this way). Do some searches under the collectibles:advertising section of ebay and you'll see what ads are hot and what ones are not. Good luck to you!

I've had the best week since Christmas - sold 50 out of 50 with really good to excellent prices. I sell in the 20-70 dollar range.

I haven't listed on eBay in about a month. I haven't been so relaxed in ages! I have been selling like crazy on Amazon's Marketplace, which is just fine with me. Sorry, eBay!
