We can have a clickable link, we can't have a clickable link..so many threads criss crossing this issue, I find myself thoroughly confused.

If anyone can assist w/some definate answers (as best one can, given ebay's hourly changing of the rules!), I'd greatly appreciate it before I tackle revising my auction databases.

Q1. Can you have a single clickable link to your email on the view item page?

Q2. Can you have a clickable link (provided it meets the size criteria) for BidPay, PP, etc. on your view item page?

Q3. Can you have a clickable link for your Auctiva Showcase (provided it meets the size criteria & includes ONLY ebay items) on your view item page?

If the answer to any of the above is no, are they then allowed on your AboutMe page?

Q4. Can you have a clickable link to you website page on your AboutMe page even if it includes both items you sell on ebay & items you don't sell on ebay, so long as you have them priced higher than your ebay starting price

or,

is this link now allowed ONLY for informational sites only?

Q5. Can you have a clickable link to your AW Storefront on your AboutMe page?

Again, I realize these rules are changing hourly & people interpret them different ways, but any help would be appreciated!

misspelled the stupid name.

eBay's own terms to linking...

Links and Credits

Links from your item listing

eBay allows sellers to place the following types of links in your item's description:
One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing.

One link to your email address that opens an email client for potential bidders to ask questions about the item in that listing.
Links to photos of the item for sale.
Links to your eBay or Half.com listings.
One link to your About Me page (in addition to the About Me icon already provided by eBay).
Links that provide credits to third parties.
If you have a logo for any of these links, it may be no greater than 88x33 pixels. (Exception - links to your eBay or Half.com listings).

Linking to web sites that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services, or including links for any purpose other than those listed above is not allowed. Prohibited links include, but are not limited to:

Links to web pages that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services outside of eBay
Links to web sites or pages offering merchandise is not permitted on eBay
Links to sites that solicit eBay User Ids or passwords from bidders
Links that encourage bidders to place their eBay bids through a site other than eBay

**********
Further explanation:

When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item and the link conforms to the policy above.

When linking to your email address to open an email client for potential bidders to ask questions about the item in that listing, that link may only be used to enable an email client through which potential bidders can ask questions about the item you are selling in that listing. It may not take you to another web page or promote other items that you may have for sale outside of eBay.

eBay posted an update to the latest & greatest link rules on the AB yesterday.

Hi reddeer,

I saw that..it added to my confusion factor.

I think I'm pretty confident w/questions 1 & 2. It's questions #3 & #5, I'm not trusting my interpretation of the rules & would like some other informed opinions on.

They didn't update it again... they just moved the announcement back to the top of the page so that it would be easily viewed (not "hidden" beneath the other announcements that were posted in the last couple of days).

eBay is really trying to get the word out. Bringing the Announcement back up to the top of the AB was just one of the ways they are working hard to make sure everyone has the chance to KNOW ABOUT IT and be in compliance by May 31.

There weren't any more changes or updates made to the Announcement on the new linking policy.

I don't see mention of manufatures websites

I just listed a expensive amp and I included a link to a fact sheet on the manufactures site...is this permissable...I really didn't see this addressed on the ebay page telling me what I can and can't link

Thanks Dottie, it looked to me like they had added some new eBay spiel to help clarify things. I guess not, my bad.

Seeing as no one else is willing to take a shot at it, I will.

#1. Yes

#2. Yes

#3. Yes

#4. Yes, and No [non eBay items not allowed] and the ME page link must take you to a web site with additional info, then another link must be used to take you to items for sale. ie: "the 2 click rule"

#5. Not sure, and honestly don't care.

Thanks, reddeer!

Exactly what I needed to know.

Hey, I thought the new latest announcement had some new (or atleast, clarified) stuff in it too! Maybe it's time for me to get a stronger coffee.

(MRBucks, your info is old.)

You can also have a link to a page that further describes the item being auctioned
AND that page can have a link to a page where you sell items off-ebay

QUOTE: When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item and the link conforms to the policy above.

So the answer to skip555 is that a link to a fact sheet is ok. The policy does not say that page has to be your creation.

capotasto:

Re-read my post...
It tells you "plain as day" that you CAN link
from your "View Item" page to a webpage, etc...

And is further clarified in the rules where it says...

Further explanation:

When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item and the link conforms to the policy above.

Perhaps the reason for ALL the ???'s about what you can and cannot do is...People don't read or understand what they read..???

Huh..???
