What would yall do if you found out quite by accident that a "big" seller in one of the categories you sell or buy in was shilling their own auctions?

Forward your "evidence" to eBay SafeHarbor; let them look into it and take appropriate action.

how do I spot shilling?
Lots of things factor in. The main one being
throwaway ID's with little or no feedback. Same email addresses (hard to do now that we can't SEE everyone's email address anymore), same person bidding on one seller's auctions and hardly winning, but placing higher and higher bids. Same person bidding winning and no feedback is left or feedback is left immediately.
There are more ways to tell, but if you suspect shilling, you must send all info to safeharbor. If they can't see it right away, spell it out for them. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 emails for them to "get it."

Here's something I learned over on eBay Trust & Safety board--I'd have probably never thought of this.
Right-click on the photos in the auction and see where they're uploaded, or if possible the name on the account. One shiller was turned in the other day and booted because he was hosting his images on his AOL ftp space under the shill bidder's name's screen name.

You can also tell from the paypal logo. I know it works on Netscape but not sure about IE. If you put your cursor over the logo it tells you the email addy of the user.

Some people use different email addys on PayPal than on eBay so that won't always work. I had two listed at PayPal at one time and only used one for my auctions.

Once I was looking up a certain rare item. I found one in active. I went to completed to see what they normally bring so I could get an idea as to how much to bid. I found the same exact item..same seller...only the item had been sold. I thought maybe the seller had TWO items..and was just using the same photo. I wrote and asked because I wanted to see a photo of the item I would bid on.
She replied that it WAS the same item..that the buyer asked to be released from the deal because of hardship. H-mm. I checked the feedback and saw that the seller left the buyer GLOWING feedback..prompt payment..WONDERFUL buyer..etc...just minutes after the auction ended. H-mm. I wrote the seller and asked her why she left feedback if the buyer backed out on the deal. She said she felt sorry for the buyer and always automatically leaves feedback. H-mmm. I checked on the buyer's bidding history. The buyer was still bidding on auctions...must have recovered from the hardship. I pointed this out to the seller...she was very angry with me. More checking found that the seller and buyer were living in the same city...obviously a friend or family member. H-mm. I gave all the info to SafeHarbor, who after lengthly investigation, came to the conclusion that everything was legit. SO...what does this prove? Nothing, I guess. I don't know how shilling could be more glaring, but the Power's To Be didn't think so.

I've turned in at least 2 dozen shillers. The thing is eBay has made it nearly impossible to catch them now since they hide email addresses, and you cant request their user info like you could before.
I think fraud is probably going crazy on eBay now thanks to all eBays new rules.
