We had 2 sets of 10 Louis L’Amour books for sale. We listed the books as “32 Louis L’Amour western stories on 10 books, of which 3 are short story editions.” We listed and numbered the books from 1 through 10. They were sold with Buy It Now within 1 day, and the winner paid via PayPal within 24 hours.

We ship the books via UPS the following day and left the buyer 2 positive feedbacks based on their prompt payment. The buyer got the books and left us 2 neutral feedbacks stating: “good marketing with words, I just didn't read description carefully enough”

Why leave a neutral if they did not read the item description.

"good marketing with words..." It seems they are saying that you were clever at concealing something? If they had a problem they should have written you before leaving feedback.

Not that you would want to retaliate in their feedback, but leaving positive feedback
for "prompt payment" is short sighted. The buying process does not end with payment. It ends with the acceptance, or non acceptance of the merchandise, and the manner in which it was accomplished.

Edited to add: I would have no problem leaving positive feedback for a buyer that had a complaint, if they were professional, honest, and friendly. However, I might leave a negative comment for [even if the original fault was mine] a buyer that is rude, threatening, or demanding - especially upon initial contact!

whats wrong with a nuetral anyway? I agree skip555; however, neutrals are viewed as negatives or weak negatives. To bad they are not literally what they are - not good, not bad...

The information was clearly stated, and a person would have to be dumb to misunderstand the description. She admitted that she did not read the description.

No haddo, they are implying that the description was misleading.

I'm not saying it was [misleading], have not seen it. But that's my feeling on the feedback left.

yeah, she's implying you tried a slippery sales technique. She's about 5% right here, next time have your description say;
"Ten Louis L'Amour books !
Three of the books are short-story volumes, you'll get a total of 32 great western stories!"

I hate to hafta say it but you gots to write to about third grade level.

What does "on 10 books" mean, anyway?

My High school English teacher would have said you deserved a neg just because of that!

I would leave a neg ofr the buyer, as a lesson AND as a warning to other sellers.

This was your 2nd mistake in this transaction. The first was the way you worded the description. Unfortunately, a seller must assume that the winning bidder won't be the brightest bulb in the fixture, and write the item description accordingly.

And NEVER, EVER leave feedback based on timely payment only. Where does that leave you when the rest of the transaction goes sour?

Alot of people view neutral feedback to be bad too. You should never leave feedback for a buyer until they confirm satisfaction upon receiving the product and leave feedback for you. Otherwise, they can leave you a neg and you will not be able to leave them one. And people should email sellers with problems before they leave neutrals or negs. I think this is common courtesy.
