Do a search of completed items similar to yours and see what is common to the highest selling items in terms of days, etc.

I am of the opion that the longer the item is listed the more potential buyers can see it so I would opt for a 10 day auction
Something like a laptop I belive i would end like 4 on a wed or thur afternoon to catch peaple at work. Some may need to get Bosses permission to bid higher.
I would stay away from mon or fri endings too much distraction
