Unless I was mis-informed, USPS is only raising the rate on additional ounces for First Class and a penny increase for postcards.

Here's a chart that gives a basic comparison on USPS/UPS shipping rates up to 20 lbs and to all Zones.
PRIORITY MAIL **IS** Increasing (albiet by a small increment) on July 1st. So are other services
Apparently the post office has worked their "marketing magic" again, by convincing the public that only 1st class additional ounces and post cards are "ONLY INCREASING BY A MEASLY PENNY"..
Just like last January when the upped Priority by 15-25%, "It is just a penny increase on a 1st class stamp"
Express Mail
½ lb. $12.25 $12.45
up to 2 lbs. $16.00 $16.25
Flat Rate Envelope $16.00 $16.25
Services
Certified Mail $1.90 $2.10
Domestic Money Orders $0.75 $0.90
-- end of quote --
NOTE: Regardless of the above "it stays the same" -- PRIORITY MAIL IS INCREASING!!! (for all weights OVER 2 pounds)
If you follow the link to the Ratecase: http://www.usps.com/ratecase/., here are the numbers (that they hid from the summary) :
3 Pounds $5.15 to $5.20 (1%)
4 Pounds $6.35 to $6.45 (1.5%)
5 Pounds $7.55 to $7.70 (2%)
6 Pounds $7.90 to $8.10 (2.5%) [zone 1/2]
Higher weights: ALL INCREASED! (about 5 cents per pound increment)

I guess the 2lb flat rate envelopes are not going to be "flat rate" anymore, either. My post office told me we can no longer use those envelopes (they actually told me to throw them away) and they gave me some "plain" envelopes (same size as the flat rates) but they don't say flat rate on them anymore.
So don't plan on using the flat rates anymore either...

If the rate to ship increases so far ahead of all the other prices pretty soon nobody will be able to sell unless they own their own distribution network. Is this an accident?
