I have a set of 5 small pressed glass pieces I can find no information on.

I can't post a photo, first because I haven't taken any yet, and second because I upload directly to eBay.

These are clear pressed glass, the size of open salts and are in the shape of the old metal Victorian flowerpot urns with the ornate handles on the side that reach higher than the pot itself.

They are thick glass, stand 2 1/4" high with the rounded bowl part standing 1 7/8" high. They are on a raised foot. The bowl is hexagon shaped with a rounded scallops along the top. Bowl is 2" in diameter. Foot is 1 1/2" in diameter.

On the inside, bottom of the bowl is the words KrysTol.

I thought they were open salts or salt cellars. But, my friend thought they may be from an old ice cream parlor and used for 1 penny/cent scoops of ice cream, which they apparently did back in the old days. You know, like penny candy, you can't afford much, but at least you get a taste.

I've exhausted my search for finding anything that resembles these and would like some information, of only what the name KrysTol means. I thank you in advance!

Hard to tell without a photo, but from what you describe they sound like a main open salt and individual open salts.

I think your best bet would be to take the photos, upload them to a website and post the links either here or on ebay's glass board.

I did a completed search on ebay and came up with the following:

1147627772 closed auction
1147385858 closed auction

KrysTol is the name of the manufacturer. What you may have is either the Colonial pattern, as described by one auction or the Chippendale pattern as described by the other. Both look the same to me. As you can see these sold for a nice price on ebay.
If AW takes those links off, here is one description that you might be able to learn from. Again, it's hard to tell if it's the same as you have without a photo.

Pat. Feb. 5 Krystol 1907.
Chippendale pattern
dates from 1907 to the late 1920's made mostly by Jefferson Glass and Central Glass Companies. They were first made for a year by Ohio Flint Glass Company. They are 2 1/4" high x 3 1/2" wide from handle to handle.

Thank you, thank you thank you, mtnmama, those are the same as mine!

When I checked about 6 weeks ago, there wasn't anything listed under KrysTol (even completed.

When I went into the dining room today to dust, here these things sit, unnamed, but cute as could be. I decided I had to find out what they were, so turned to AW for answers, without thinking to recheck on eBay.

Guess it's time to take some pics!

I figured they were desirable because I've seen Martha Stewart admiring one during one of those previews just before her Martha Stewart Living program started.

Picked these beauties up at a church rummage for $1 each early this spring. This was a primo rummage sale! Also got a VanBriggle vase for $4, a French cooking book for 50 cents, two Manhattan (Depression) clear glass bowls for $2, a sable jacket for $5, and a vintage lace tablecloth for $1.

edited for spelling ...
