I bought a couple of widgets this weekend for a quarter a piece. Mostly, I was trying to spend at least $15 at a yard sale that benefitted a local high school.
Let's say, I know squat about these items. I put both in one auction. Started it at less than $5.00.
I get an email today. My bidder has asked me to end the auction today for $50.
I'm not going to do it for a number of reasons:
- I checked out his feedback (he's very upfront about who he is and all), then his auctions. He sells widgets almost exclusively.
- I had a situation like this where someone wasn't a bidder, but wanted to know how much I'd take for some flatware (not silverware). I declined because I had a couple of bids, and thought it was wrong for me to end the auction once it had started. I invited her to participate in the auction. That set of flatware that I paid $14.50 for went for $435 - and she was the high bidder.
