Hi everyone. Been lurking for a while, now it's time for my first post.

I have several hundred LPs/record albums I'm thinking of putting on Ebay. What is the best method of packaging them for mailing? Most importantly, what is the best container to mail them in?

I am a record sell on Ebay best way to send 33s is in the large rectangle priority box leave it flat cut off the flap sides with out the tapes side the record in seal and address.

For 78s Make your own costum sized card board box use paper and foam rubber between and on the top and bottom of all the records Put this between to peices of styrafoam on top and bottom Build your custom card board boxes around this makeing sure nothing jiggle inside or rattles address and pary 78s are Hard to Ship USPS without damage as most of the oldest ones are WAX not the unbreakable PVC.

45s with there sleeves covers can be stack togeather neatly one light piece of card board on top one piece on the bottom Tape around the cardboard snugly I recomend makeing a custom box for this but you can slide this in a bubble mailer for dilivery any whre in the US safely no problem.

it a lot of work for this as most records bring a small return but if your not carefull you will be loaded down with refund for damage emails really fast I have shipped over 1000 records world wide with very little problem 78s are the toughest They they sell for the most and are the hardest to ship in bulk safely.

If your a really record buff the damage to the rarer 78s hurts far more then the refunds for most record sales insurance is not usually a option the buyer will pay for and most record sales are low bid price items.

many time the shipping can be more then the winning bids I ship all priority mail as it means less time in travel for International record shipping use very heavy carboard and lots of padding so your package cant bend or fold this is the greatest risk if you dont have heavy cardboard double box.

By the way records are a tough market takes a lot of will out of every 40 I list 1 to 4 sell if they dont sell after three relist I just store then away for another time in the future.

Good luck

I sell a couple hundred LPs a month, the best way I have found is professional mailers and cardboard stiffeners. You can find them cheaply at www.bagsunlimited.com and they hold up to 4 LP's each. We have never had an LP damaged in the mail when using these. We charge $3.00 Media Mail postage for up to 2 LP's, and have never had a complaint. Cheap and effective.

I have shipped about 50 lp's in the last year using pizza boxes. Never had one damaged. Just make sure you get new, unused boxes if you go this route. Don't expect to get rich, if my experience is any indication. I had one bring $300 (Kasey Casem countdown) and one bring $120 (some type of hot rod music). The rest brought only $10 to $30, if they got a bid at all. Many more closer to $10.00 than to $30.00. Good luck.

The people who are suggesting you ship in boxes have the right idea. Particularly if you have several hundred you're liquidating, it's worth your time to track down some proper boxes. DON'T ship them flat; I have received damaged LPs that were sent using that packing method. They need to be in a box with corners, otherwise they are subject to getting warped or the jackets (which are sometimes as collectible as the vinyl) getting bent.

Personally, I am happy to pay an extra 75 cents or a dollar for a record to be packed in a proper box.

Yeah, nothing more annoying than getting merchandise in a USED pizza box.

I ship in new pizza boxes. Turned inside out and taped on all sides they are stronger than any other box I have found. I have shipped up to 10 in one pizza box (medium size is perfect)with bubble wrap between the albums. I always ship priority and have not had one arrive damaged yet.(knock on wood)

I have also used pizza boxes to ship glass platters and plates. Works great.

Pizza boxes are the way to go for lps. I buy 50 for $15.00 at a wholesale food outlet, and I have never had a complaint!

I also sell records on ebay..i use the flat priority for usa lps..overseas or multiple purchases are put in boxes bought from 123pix.com..they have any size box you need and are the most reasonable sellor i have found yet.<br> 45s are put between two pieces of carboard and slipped into a 4 cent 9 by 12 envelope for shipping..looks more professional that way..most records are in the 5.00 or less range.
