Has anyone here ever bought anything from one of eBay's international sites such as eBay UK, eBay Australia or eBay Deutschland (assuming you don't already live there)? I've been finding that there are some items I'm interested in on the German eBay but I'm not sure what would be involved in bidding on them.
Would I have to sign up separately with that eBay site? Figure out more German than I already (minimally) know? I'd like to take the leap but I'm nervous about it. I have a German friend who can translate for me but I don't want to bug her to do that too often...
I looked at eBay UK but the items aren't of as much interest to me.

This is not exactly an answer to your question, but I list on Ebay Australia and most of my buyers are international. So it follows that, if I can sell then you can buy, as long as the seller says they sell internationally.

You can paste the description into a machine translator and usually get enough info to bid if it is not a super expensive item.
Yahoo was running a translator last time I needed one.

I have traded Internationally with 23 different countries and it is fun. Your present eBay ID will work on eBay.de You will find that most International sellers speak some English (or is it American?). Please do your shopping on eBay.co.uk!

Thank you lorikeet, gravid, and GreetingsfromUK. Lorikeet, it's good -- and surprising -- to know that most of your buyers are international.
Another question which I forgot to ask last night: What method of payment is best? International money orders? Does BidPay work for payment from the US going to Germany, UK, or Australia? I've shipped internationally a few times so I'm thinking bidding internationally must work pretty similarly, just in reverse.
