I saw this on the local news and had to share it. Apparently perfume is illegal to send across the border to Canada. The story was about an owner of a small perfume shop who was out $4500 because Canada Post seized her shipment. Why? They said that perfume is considered dangerous goods as it is flammable. When officials from Canada Post were interviewed they said it could be worse, that she could have had a $50,000 fine or gone to jail. So her shipment was going to be disposed of at a dangerous goods disposal plant. Personally I don't think the perfume will make it that far.
I've purchased perfume on Ebay from the US with no problem, but I guess it could happen.

Many years ago I bought a box of old perfume bottles in an antique store in the US. When we got to the border the Customs guy told me that I had to empty them all because of the alcohol in them.
I convinced him that I wasn't going to drink it or wear it, that I just wanted to collect them and that they were worth more money if they had the original contents. He finally let us go through with the bottles intact.

Perfume falls under Flammable Liquids, as does After Shave Lotion. Canada Post has some literature available on the Dangerous Goods that cannot be shipped via the mail, and these regs apply even when shipping inside of Canada. 1-800-267-1177
