word does do it, but it's not exactly obvious. you use the 'database' toolbar (if it's not showing, go under the 'tools' menu -> 'customize' and you'll find how to get it to show there). to get it to sort by comma delimited, click on the 'data form' icon on the database icon (i'm on a mac, not sure if it's the same in windows, but on my version it's the first icon on the toolbar), and then you'll see a choice for 'field delimiter,' and a pulldown. the first option will be commas.

Your excel should do it just fine. Chose "File" then "Open", the choose your file. When it tried to open it up, you should get a screen that you can tell it is delimited and by what - comma in this case.
