I have seen some talk in the past on researching books...talking about websites where you can type in the name and get values...I am interested in researching old books most late 1800's thru mid 1900's.

There is no better predictor of value than past eBay sales.
"book values" are traditionally published by those who would refuse to buy at 1/2 their own book value. That's not what they mean by "value".
Book value is much more of a sales tool than a buying tool. The real money in used books is buying in quantity for near zero (from widows and children who inherit large collections) and selling one by one for real money.

I use those mentioned above, plus AddAll.com, and I agree with Nancy (fountainhouse) that
"Best rule of thumb is to research several sources. Relying on any one source will land you in trouble more often than not."
Another thing you can try, is to put the title or author (or sometimes subject) into a search engine like Google.com and see what comes up. I've found listings and info that way that did not show up in those other searches.
