Australians!!!!!!.
To make it even worse, I am a seller based in Australia.
I have put off making this post for months but enough is enough.
These days I cringe when I see an auction close with a winners address in Australia.
Of course, not every Australian buyer is a problem. Most of them are good, but I can almost guarantee that in every batch of Australian bidders there will always be some that drag out payment for as long as they can, if they even bother to pay at all.
It has got to the stage where I am seriously tempted not to accept bids from Australians! I just don't need the bother and the strung out excuses anymore.
I feel sorry for the good Aussie ebayer's whose credibility is being dragged into the mud by these Australian no hopers.
I hate to take a dump on fellow Australians, but the fact is that so many of them are a PITA when it comes to parting with their cash.
Thanks for the space to let me vent!

I am American and I've had nothing but good trades with my Australian, English, and German buyers. For that matter, I have never had a problem with Canadian buyers either (although I know some folks love to sock it to them, I love Canucks! Even though they say 'aboot'!) Nope, the only problem people i have had were right here in the good old US of A. Mostly people from Washington State & Texas, although I had a bastard from Florida once too....

Been on ebay almost since the beginning. My worst worst mail and payment problems are Canada and Australia. Did maybe 25 of those deals. Maybe 2 have gone smoothly.

I've only sold One item to an Australian, and they paid within a week. Here is where it got ugly, went down that same day to ship it, it was some expensive perfume (Brand New, Sealed). Post Office told me they COULD NOT ship it by air (regulations were cited). I had to send it by Ground, which they told me would take TWO MONTHS at LEAST. I was between a rock and a Hard Place, and went ahead and sent it. Apologized via email to the Buyer, Never got a feedback or heard back from them. I have had several buyers email me from Australia that wanted to Bid on my auctions (always said yes, even with this "incident", But have yet to have another Buyer from down there Win.

I have great luck with Austrailia -- even though it costs an arm and a leg to get anything there -- -- Good and bad everywhere , I guess , but I have never had a prob with "down under".

Although the Aussies have been few and far between, the transactions have always gone smoothly. Do you think you might be having extra trouble because you are Australian? I know I have had trouble from time to time with my fellow citizens here in Canada that seemed to be due to a mild form of contempt. Maybe people are on better behaviour when they are conducting international transactions.

Not NARU on eBay

Actually tomwiii, it has been statistically proven that more American eBayers are slow payers than eBayers from any other country!

I think you're right about this. My dealings with Aussie's have all been great. Actualy, all my international dealings have been great (Been a few "slow deals", but I and the buyers have looked at the post marks, and don't blame each other for slow mail. )

it has been statistically proven that more American eBayers are slow payers than eBayers from any other country!

Might that be because there are more American eBayers than all the rest together?

Not that I'm disagreeing, I have plenty of slow payers from the states.

Gotta love Australian bidders!
Same with Sweeden and England.

Canadians in my opinion are the worst of Interanationals (France is close behind).

As for the U.S. bidders my most likely to have problems with:

Christian items that closed below $5 (99.9% of all my deadbeats)
high priced sports cards (several cases of bidding on several cards, paying only for the lowest one they got the high bid for)
electronics
sex manuals

These buyers have in general have been excellent:

Homeschool parents (esp. with homeschool materials)
Christian items going for more than $15
vintage toys

worst only because I stopped shipping internationally are Americans

worse stuff
1) after the deal is going bad they start with the "well I'm a Christian" well I am too and I take offence to throwing that in my face, your not acting very Christ like now are you? I love to drop that one if they are a Christian they'll usually stop dead in their tracks and I usually get an apology, you have to wonder with the ones that start cursing after that.

2) anyone that has you send your package C/O, did you actually check with the person you had us send your package to? aaaaaaaaaaaa oops not yet.

3) Any and everyone that want me to adopt them, just mark it as a gift...........sure are you going to send me one to?

4) Anyone that wants to start making deals after the close of the auction now that I've bought 4 items will you give me a discount? Oh did I say we would combine items to save on shipping?

I had one lady in Australia that bought a watch from me, about a week later she bought another watch, a week later another watch. I emailed her and told her I would try to get them all together and ship in one box and would return the extra monies, she said ship them all when payment is received and don't combine the items. OK a few weeks later she orders off my web site one watch, this went on for about 3 months some times it would be 3-4 a week then one all just one watch never combining shipping weird.

I don't know if you have some weird thing with customs where it is cheaper with just one item in the box or what, but she was a great customer........maybe I should start shipping internationally again

AIRGUY It must be an Australian thing.
I had a buyer from Australia buy 2-3 jewelry items a week from me for a 3 month period she had me ship them in small padded mailers.
Apparently small padded mailers and packages with low dollar amounts are less likely to get held up in customs, as opposed to a box with high value.

It is probably playing the numbers game too.
Such as ship 10 boxes at $20 and at least 9 will most likely arrive with no incident. Then loose a sing large box worth $200.

I love my international bidders!

But I do require they pay by Paypal or Billpoint.

None seem to mind.
