I got another nasty e-mail from a bidder. The auction ended 14 days ago, and they said they sent payment weeks ago, and I have had to send the item to them 10 different times. Supposedly I am a scam artist.
Got another after my computer program generated a "when did you mail your payment" e-mail.
So what happens if they turn me in to ebay since I never recieved payment? Who will ebay believe. This is one of the higher priced items I've sold lately (still under $20 but that is A LOT of money to me)
Advice? I can't afford just to send the item since it is so high priced, and I don't want to be bullied into it anyway.
The bidder in question has only one positive feedback. I have 1170+.
What should I do? I just got my first neg this week (from an underage bidder, no less!) and I hate to get a second one so quickly.

Calmly ask them by what method they sent payment ie... personal check money order ect,, then ask them to see if it has cleared. Probably has not and has been lost itn the mail or even addressed incorrectly and sent to the wrong place. Tell them to feeel free to put a stop payment on the check since you have not received and and maybe you can start from scratch. I find even if people are being rude if you resort with professionlism and kindness they will be able to be worked with. of course there are exceptions to everyhting. lots of luck

Enough. Tell them that you did not receive their payment, you are cancelling the sale and reporting them to their ISP and eBay for profane emails, and that you will return their payment should it ever arrive.
Also give them a specific instruction not to contact you again.

You might also remind them that a neg won't hurt your Ebay reputation one bit but with their feedback record of only one pos it will almost surely make it difficult for them to conduct further business. And I agree with the person who said you should report the profanity to Ebay--they may very well suspend or at least warn the bidder.

This really sounds like a scam to me.
We had a person do this to us a while back. We emailed back and forth for a week or more before she finally just disappeared.
We told her that we were unwilling to send the item without proof of payment (a photo copy of a canceled check with a signature). We also carbon copied safeharbor.
The person gave us all kinds of excuses why she couldn't send proof of payment. She changed her story several times and then just quit emailing us. The person can file fraud charges against you but the burden of proof is on them.
You have nothing to fear but a negative feedback.
Don't let it get you down. If what they are saying bothers you just quit reading their emails and contact their ISP. Harrassment is not tolerated by most providers and they will probably lose their internet account.

Well an old me would probably have told them to SHOVE IT UP THEIR DRAIN PIPE.
The new kinder and gentler me would tell them to place it gently up their drain pipe.
Tell them you have not received the monies and you will email them when you do as you do for every customer. also tell them you will be more then happy to exchange negative feedback should it come to that. You can't believe the back peddling and the emails I've received when I've been threatened with negative feedback to that one line, what? why would you leave a neg. for me? I really didn't mean it. I didn't know you could do that! this is one of the best reasons not to leave feedback until it is left for you. IMO
anyway forward safehabor the email with headers and their ISP also. and if you really don't want to deal with it block their emails.
I've blocked several people email address over the years.
I blocked a guys email once, he was sending payment for an item that cost about 80 bucks and I got about 2 emails a day, did you mail it yet, I want tracking numbers, how did you send it, why isn't it here yet? and all this started less than a week after he won the auction after the first three days of this I blocked his email address. this guy had over 1000 feedback as my memory serves, also he was a seller himself. about 3 weeks later his check shows up, I removed the block from his email address and sent him an email as we always do telling him the payment has been received and that the item would ship on xx/xx date. He went BALLISTIC!!!!!!!!
I have perfect feedback! I never hold checks, I can't believe, why haven't you returned my emails......... I emailed him and told him that I had blocked his email because he was worse than three kids sitting in the back seat wanting to know if we were there yet. He said that he needed the item and he had sent payment the day after the auction closed, WRONG it was postmarked only 4 days before I received it and I told him that I would send a copy of the envelope with the item, then he demanded I leave him feedback. I emailed him back if you really want the feedback I felt he deserved he would no longer have perfect feedback. again he went nuts, I emailed that he was blocked again and if he sent anymore emails with a different email address I would leave the feedback I felt he deserved.
about a week later I was leaving feedback and his name popped up to leave feedback(right) so I just checked his feedback and he had a neg., remember it was perfect, seems it was a neg. for the same item that he had bought from me. from the looks of it he had sold something he didn't have and was working fast to try and keep from getting his first neg. had he told me this I probably would have worked something out with him and just shipped it to his buyer for him, and as it was I guess he probably didn't want to neg. me now that he already had one in the last week or so.
