From my husband's aunt's effects, we have a large carton of LPs--old 50s and 60s musicals. What would be the best way of selling these? ~Adele

hi,in the uk you cant give these away.
even the charity shops wince when they see you coming.
But thats the beauty of ebay.
Someone somewhere will want them.
postage and packing are something to get right before you list.
so its just a case of listing each item one by one.

Be very careful quoting international shipping on these. I have paid 2 people to take my records in the past 2 weeks. Oh Well, that's life.

I sell many of these, they do sell and some sell very well. I'd just do a search on the names and casts, and post accordingly... If they all look like dogs...List them in lots (usually works for me).

And if you do sell them, don't ship them in used pizza boxes. They may be the right size, but I don't like paying extra shipping costs for the little pieces of pepperoni in the corners.

Sorry I had lurked long enough! I just had to answer this~! I hope no ones thinks I am bragging, but I had to post! On Memorial Day it was pouring outside and I had a ton of housework to do, but couldn't stand the thought. I went to a storage auction. Stood in the rain in my toeless sandles and jacket and red umbrella. When the auctioneer opened one bin and it had 6 old milk crates full of old LP's I thought "Oh what the heck..." I spent a total of $39 that day. I bought 3 of the 6 crates. I put 13 of the albums on ebay explaining I knew nothing about them. By the time the first 18 had sold I was up to over $4000.00!I have about 200 more to sell and of course they aren't bringing as much as they did at first, but WOW! One album sold for $910 and speaking of International shipping so far most of mine have gone to Japan and Italy. Most collectors want you to take the record out of the sleeve and wrap very carefully. I put a $5.50 shipping cost on them and so far have shipped any record sold for over $100 through Fedex. Needless to say I paid quite a bit more than $5.50. The international of course I did charge more, as stated in my auction descriptions, but believe it or not they are perfectly willing to shell out the bucks for records. Don't get discouraged. I guess I should say most of the ones I found were Jazz records, but I do have others (Soundtracks etc...) so check em all out really well! Sorry, I just had to tell someone~

WOW is right! and I am glad you posted fdmadden . but I think a lot of old LP' s don't sell . However, I have a few kicking around and will try and sell some later. Great bragging and I would have bragged also. Will maybe watch more carefully what sells. If you don't pack in pizza boxes what do you pack them in? Thanks ahead of time Suzanne

Pizza boxes are fine. That is what I use when I sell them.
Just not USED pizza boxes.
Also, cut some cardboard a bit bigger than the LP and use some tape to make a sleeve for it to go into. Pizza boxes are not very sturdy and you could damage the LP by just putting it into one and shipping it.

Hubby packs in box in box. Fedex has some larger perfect size boxes. We surround in so much bubblewrap they are about 4 times the size normally. I did have to laugh though. When the album sold for $910 the buyer was from Italy. He called his carrier to come pick it up the next day. On his account. When I got home (about 2 hours before carrier was to come pick it up.) hubby had taken the album out of the cover, boxed the album boxed the cover separately, put the two boxes inside am old empty milk crate with tons of bubble wrap and newspaper between and them boxed the milk crate!!!! The thing weighed almost 20 pounds! I really didn't think we needed to go that far, so he did take out the milk crate. It was pretty funny though! Be careful because album collectors are serious about their collection and if you don't know how to "professionally" grade the records, don't be suckered into guessing, make it clear you don't know but are willing to take as many pics as they need or if they ask direct questions you will be happy to answer, but don't leave yourself wide open for buyers wanting refunds. Hope I helped a bit... (Oh yeah, no pizza boxes!)

www.bagsunlimited.com sells the best and most reasonable mailers. I'd never use a Pizza Box and I'd be ticked off is someone sent my record that way. They are designed to hold a pizza for a few hours, not an LP for weeks in the hands of Postal Workers..just a thought...

I use pizza boxes, turned inside out, with bubble wrap and extra cardboard. Ship priority in the U.S. and use about a pound of priority tape. Have never had a complaint yet. Actually get praise for careful packing.

Great packing tips! Thanks Suzanne ( I might just put old LPs on my items to learn what to watch for on my watch list ~ along with about 200 other lists!)

Hello folks. This is my first post as this thread attracted my interest. I also sell vintage old LP records and since I live a few miles from the Bags Unlimited Factory, always purchase their supplies. I do have a question. I offered up my first 'record lot' auction on Ebay which consists of 50 LP's.
I know you can purchase record mailers that can expand to hold 20 LP's. Are there boxes available that can hold up to 50 LP's? Packing tips would be appreciated also. Thank you.

Hi..I buy supplies at 123pix.com..they have all different size lp boxes..for 50 lps..i use 2 or 3 boxes of 15 or so..then piggyback them together with duct tape..less chance of one box breaking open.have shipped to japan and germany that way ..no problem.

I've got a bunch of old LPs from the 50s and 60s, plus some of the EPs with their picture jackets, plus some picture discs. I should put some up and see how they go. I have no idea how to grade records at all. Also an Elvis Presley Record Player with its special record. Should list that. It's hard to know what sells well though.
