I am mostly a seller on ebay, but do occasional buying also. A few weeks ago, I bid on video tape for my 4 yr old twins. Winning bid was 9.99 + 3.50 for shipping. Immediately after the auction was over, I went to PayPal and paid. Due to distractions, I accidentally entered the wrong payment amount ($23.00). I realized it as soon as I clicked send, so I emailed the seller right away. Two days passed and I didn't receive a reply, but did get a WBN from seller. I replied stating that I had already paid (also mentioned overpayment) and could they please confirm?

Two days later, I received a short reply. --
"I received your payment and refunded the overpayment to you. If it has not shown up on your account, please let me know."

It had not shown up, so I emailed the seller again. In the meantime, the video tape shows arrived (in perfect condition). A few days later (on 6/16), I emailed seller this note:
"Tape arrived fine - still no paypal $ though. Please let me hear from you soon."

I still have not heard another word from this seller. They just will not respond to my emails or return the funds.

Now, I realize that it was my error in the first place - but geez! What ever happened to honesty?

I know that I will not leave a positive feedback for this seller, even though I did receive the mdse. timely and in great shape. Communication and cooperation on the part of the seller have been just lousy.

Any comments?

I would notleave FB just yet. i would attempt to phone them first. Then i would email saying i would file a complaint with paypal and then follow thru on that immediatly. If you have to do a chargeback, if it was a credit card, overcharges are valid chargeback reasons. then after you have tried all that neg the bum!! i would not wait the 30 days paypal says it takes to investigate. the seller gets a notice of compolaint, if that does not get his attention a charggeback and neg are your only and just recourse......go to it man!!!

Hi momof3boys - Frustrating, isn't it? Seems like it would be so easy for them to have dealt with this quickly.

I would look again on my PayPal page, just to verify that the refund hasn't be credited to my account (as of now).

Then I'd check their buying/selling info. to see if they've been active in the last week or so. This would help me decide if they were just ignoring my emails, or point to the possibility they haven't been on line to have read your last email.

Then I'd pull the sellers contact info. and give them a call.

Should you be able to speak with them by phone, and if after explaining the reason for your call (their non-response), I'd hint that you sure don't want to contact PP as that *may* put a hold on their account.

If they still weren't responding, I'd send an email to PayPal explaining the situation and ask PP for a refund of that amount.

Good luck.

Why don't you go to PayPal and "request" a payment from the seller????

Perhaps they sent your money to the wrong person/addy!?!?

I am a firm believer in trying everything before leaving Negative FB. I would send the "request" from PP, send one more email to the seller letting them know what I had done and why and put a time limit on receiving my money. I would nicely let them know that I would hold my FB for XXX days to allow them to correct the oversight.

When the time is up, pull the contact info and give them a call....

If I actually had to do all that, I would probably leave a neutral and explain shipped fast but an overpayment error took effort and time.

Good luck!!!!

I'm with sulyn1950 on this one, he probably paypal'd it to an invalid address.
This has happened to me several times, where I would send my usual semi-nastygram "Reminder" message and the seller responds - well I sent it two weeks ago and it is still "unclaimed"??!
