I have a winner who paid by Paypal late last Tuesday. Her item was mailed out the next day, Wednesday. It was going from New Jersey to California & was sent 1ST class. How long does it usually take to get there? She's sent a few messagaes last night & wants to know why she hasn't received it yet. She is not a newbie {rating of over 300 buying} & I don't know how to respond other than "You've Got To Be Kidding"!!!

Did this person request 1st class, or did you just send it that way without her knowledge?

I have had things that went from Wisconsin to California, and only took 1 day to get there via Priority Mail. While this person is a bit anxious, I would clear up how the item was sent. It could take anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks to get there.

This is my sig file. Deal with it.

You can go to the USPS site

http://postcalc.usps.gov/

put in your info and it will bring up the *typical* time it takes to get from here to there + shipping costs. I let all my buyers know how I shipped their item and how many days it is suppose to take (according to the PO).

Its not uncommon if it takes one to two weeks. It can be faster if they use a fresh mule every hundred miles or so.

Good luck. I've been seeing huge slowdowns for First Class (From Pennsylvania) to California, Oregon, Washington and Texas. I don't know what is making things slow down so badly right now.

I've been seeing California take anywhere from 8 to 14 days.

Even Priority has been terrible. I just had two packages take 6 and 8 days.

Mind you that all of these items are run through electronic postage and are address verified and ZIP+4 barcoded.

Here's my guess: I think the postal service just came off a mail audit at the end of May and are really letting things slide. Just prior to these slowdowns I was getting PA to CA times of 4 days for First Class, 2 days for Priority and 4 days (and occassionally 2) for Media Mail.

It's the start of summer help season at the PO. Things may take longer. 1st class usually makes its way in about a week. You cannot expect anything sent through the post office to get there in less than a month but it often does. Express Mail is the exception and it isn't cheap.
