Hello, All!
How have your auctions done in previous years that ended during July 4th week? Is it worth listing items? This week I plan on listing mostly books to try to clean up the place around here!
Thanks in advance for your help!

normally I would say holiday is a bad time to end but I am wondering with high gas prices if folks will stick around home and maybee check out ebay.

It would seem to me that July 4th may be of little issue because it falls on a Wednesday.
With that in mind, there wouldn't be the 'long weekend' thing to contend with....
Or, maybe I'm wrong...

I agree with sharkbaby, we won't have to deal with the "long weekend" slump so in that respect the 4th isn't as much of an issue this year. However, since the 4th lands smack-dab in the middle of the week, I'm betting a lot of people will schedule their Summer vacation over that week instead of taking it in June or August. It's probably just going to be another typically slow Summer week. I'd avoid ending auctions on the 4th itself - even if people don't travel, there's always lots of local events, cookouts, fireworks, etc, to keep people away from their computers.

around the world:
My response was a little bit of sarcasm ie:whatever I do will be wrong.
Traditinal wisdom says it will be dead around a holiday. I disagree with the notion that the 4th being wed wont lead to long weekend I think it screws up the whole week as some will take off mon tues wed some will do wed thur fri and some will do the whole week.
That Said ...I beleive it may be a little differnt this year due to high gas prices.
instead of treaveling peaple may leave the SYV parked and stay home ...could be more ebay activity as they go to the computer and buy themselves a little something to make up for the lack of travel.
Again just a theary.....And whtever I do will probably be wrong

Yeah, good point spock! Hadn't thought of that cuz I (not having kids) NEVER schedule a vacation during the summer!
Many years ago I went to Disneyland in July and it was the most miserable experience!

I plan on using that week to popular my storefront and cutting WAY back on the auctions - probably just my standard card sets that I've always got up and nothing else...

It might be a good time to try or to increase the number of offerings with the BIN option.
When schedules are crowded people seem to like the opportunity to complete the purchase of an item, even at a slightly higher cost, than to have to watch and return to an auctions during the entire period of it's duration.
