Auction states that I ship US only, but buyer is from UK and asks that I put "Used Clothing - No Value" on outside of package.
I'm not going to do this just because "gut instinct" feels wrong
but I'm not sure what's going on. Anybody know?

The auction was for a square dance dress.
I have been considering beginning to ship
internationally and am trying to learn - in order to be aware of pitfalls. That's why I wonder why she wants "used clothing - No value" on outside of package. It's the
"No Value" part I'm questioning.

If you write "no value" on there, then they do not have to pay an import tax on it. If it is truly a used item and has no value (or negligible value) then it is OK to put it on there. "No Value" is sort of a keyword that the customs inspectors look for.
Frequently you will get people who ask you to lie on the form in order to dodge the tax. What they don't realize is that their customs will confiscate the package if they happen to open it, inspect it and find the declaration was inaccurate. (Then, of course, they launch a BILLPOINT CHARGEBACK and you lose the $ as well!)
