I had an auction close tonight and just rec'd notice about a Billpoint invoice. Buyer is in Australia. My auctions clearly state I ship to USA only. When did Australia become a state? I've never shipped out of the USA before-is there anything I need to know? I'm a little miffed that the buyer didn't ask before bidding.

I had No Problem EXCEPT one with a Buyer from Australia, Got my Money REAL Quick, BUT when i went to ship the Fragrance (it was expensive perfume) US postal said I COULD NOT ship it by Air (might explode or something), it had to Go Ground. This takes at LEAST 8 weeks, Needless to say I felt between a rock and a hard place, and shipped it anyway. The Buyer Never left a feedback and I did email them explaining the situation.

I have a number of repeat bidders from Australia. They ALWAYS pay promptly. Of course I need to mention my auctions state I DO ship internationally.
Be sure you weigh the items carefully and check the shipping costs carefully as well. I give my bidders the shipping options and let them choose. The heavier objects can get a bit pricey overseas. I sell mostly small costume jewelry items and they are quite reasonable to ship. I never lie on the customs forms and my bidders don't ask that I do. I clearly mark the items "merchandise". I do however call my jewelry a "costume accessory" or "fashion accessory" to reduce temptation.
I have made some of my best sales out of the country and have had no problems so far.

Doc - Not sure why they wouldn't let you send it by air. I'm in Australia and buy all my dearer perfumes on Ebay from the US. Every one has been sent by airmail with no hassles.
Surface is the cheapest option but I never use it as it takes forever to get here!

Thanks for the help everyone. I really wish they had emailed me first. This is only a $2.99 item and I would have told them no. Now I'd have to go through filing for fees and all that crap. Can you use the PM boxes?

No, can't use the PM boxes. You can use GPM boxes if you're sending that way though and these are also free.
