I placed a couple of bids today on items from different sellers, and did not get the "yes/no" box asking me if I wanted to be spammed with "recommendations" of items loosely related/totally unrelated to the item I was bidding on. I wonder if eBay has decided to store this preference on their system (instead of requiring me to keep a cookie on my computer?) Or maybe the sellers in question had already jumped on the trolley for "opting out" of the spam option? Or maybe eBay just pulled the whole function while they tweak the system?

I'm hoping they're storing the preference in their system, and dumping the "cookies" aspect of it.

Hmm .. seemed like my whole title, "Recommendations spam - no "yes/no" box, cookies?" title was accepted, but I guess not.

I would guess that the "opt out" function must be active, however I saw nothing about it when I was listing earlier.
