Does anyone know of a reputable place that ships large items? I have a full-size carousel horse I am auctioning off & if it sells I need to know where I might call to get price quotes for shipping it to buyer. Any help would be greatly appreciated--thanks in advance.

I know this is just a bit unorthodox but it worked great for a friend of mine. She had a full size model horse (the kind you see in front of tack and western stores) to ship cross country. She called one of the companies who haul live horses and made arrangements for it to go standing up in its own stall in one of their large horse vans that wasn't fully loaded. It arrived in perfect condition and the cost wasn't that great either.

see if Craters & Freighters (http://cratersandfreighters.com/) has an office near you. They will pack and ship are a little pricey. Depending on the size of the horse you might be able to send it FedEx Ground - don't gasp - they are more reasonable than USPS and UPS, although a little slower. We've had fantastic service from them and never a loss or break, even with some of the delicate antiques we've shipped. ABF Freight also has a service and there is another whose name escapes me that does 'blanket shipping' at http://www.ezfreightrates.com/option/Q1.htm. Good luck! Just remember - the most critical part is the packing.
