I have run across a powerseller who is linking to his commercial website and not at all discreetly, either. He's got a really huge link right in the middle of his auction page that says visit our website for great buys. (I've changed the wording slightly to stay within the TOS.) He's also running choice auctions.
This seller sells a variety of items and he's not a competitor. I wouldn't usually consider reporting anyone and I've never done it before, but I'm getting tired of following the rules while others ignore them and eBay does nothing. They say they have no responsibility unless we alert them to the auctions that are in violation, so I'm thinking it might be time to alert them.

dellastreet. I agree with your comments. My competitors still have links to their web sites. Do an eBay search on visit!

tomwiii - I didn't go looking for dirt. It just fell in my lap while I was shopping. This time, I was the buyer not the seller. When I saw that auction, I just saw red. The link to his website is huge, and prominently displayed right in the middle of his auction page. I revised my auctions to comply with the newest rules and it seems I'm constantly having to change something about the way I do business because eBay has come up with another one. And with every new rule, I watch my bottom line dwindle.
eBay makes the rules but refuses to enforce them unless we tell them which auctions are non-compliant. Do we just pretend the rules don't pertain to others but they do to us?
As I said, I've never turned anyone in for anything before, but this time I'm tempted.

dellastreet - If you want to report the violations, you can do so by using the 'email this auction to a friend' icon on the auctions page.
Erase the pre-typed message and state what you see as the violation.
