I bought a ton of Abeka home school books at a garage sale this weekend. Should I list them in sets, or individual. The sets are 4 books each, teachers book, student book, students workbook and teachers workbook. I know little about these and was looking for advice. Thanks.

I am not a homeschooler, yet, but I have friends that are. I would list them in the sets. Depending on the grade level & subject, some do not use the teacher's books. But, you would definitely want to sell them as the set. If I'm not mistaken, the teacher's books have the answer keys, and suggestions for teaching, and maybe some supplemental assignments, but they are made to go with that specific student book. For information on prices of NEW material, you can go to their website (abeka.com) and log in as a guest. You might also want to do a search on the web for homeschool stuff. Their might be a website that has a 'auction' type of thing exclusively for homeschoolers. Recycling old material is very popular, as most homeschool families only have 1 income. That might increase your chances for bids. Although I have not checked ebay's textbook section. In my part of town, these would definitely be a hot item. Homeschooling is definitely on the rise, nationwide.

I believe that abeka is published by Bob Jones University, if so, make sure that is in your auction title, as that might be a keyword search for some parents, especially the newbies.

AFter looking around, it appears that ebay is probably the best place to sell those.

GOOD LUCK!

I have to respectfully disagree with selling in sets. I am a homeschool mom and have sold a TON of Abeka books. A lot of moms do not want the teachers books or already have them but don't have the student books etc. I would definitely break them up. List them in the homeschool section under textbooks. Make sure you go through the books and note any writing, any pages missing etc. Even if there is some it will probably sell. I start most of my books around $3 or so and they can up go up to $12. They don't go very high because they're paperback and aren't too much new. Also put the copyright date in the listing, that's important for people who are piecing together their own set. They are published by A Beka not Bob Jones University, that's a whole separate company with their own curriculum (popular but not as popular as Abeka).

Good luck!

I agree list them seperatly. I homeschooled for 8 years some of that with the ABeka materials. Do put a BIN price on them though so buyers have an opportunity to buy the sets they need outright without the fear of losing out on one piece because someone sniped it.

I remember when you ordered from
A Beka, they made the person agree they would not re-sell the books.
I always felt they were mine once I purchased them, but in order to receive them you had to agree to their terms.
Maybe things have changed in the past few years?

By the way, I think their program is one of the BEST out there!

Yes, list individually. I have done this and in the description I state the shipping costs for winning bidders on 1, 2, 3 etc... I had a couple people win several items, and it eliminated all the questions about how much shipping will be and if I combine shipping. Good luck! You may want to wait until later in August, since I think most homeschoolers follow a regular acedemic year?

I sell lots of homeschool stuff. Seperate them.

Also, Bob Jones does NOT produce a Beka booka.

I have been buying lots of homeschooling books lately. I jump at the chance for a reasonably priced A Beka set. So for us homeschoolers just starting out buying sets are great. Good luck!
