I had a surprize phone call from Pay Pal this morning wanting to know how every thing was going and so on and on..What surpirzed me is that i am just a small seller and do not have any where near the vol. that a lot of sellers have and i do not think i have ever went over $1000.00 in any given month as far as receivng payment by Pay Pal from high bidders..I did have the time to ask the nice fellow from Pay Pal a couple of questions and one of them was the topic that keeps comming up here a lot....CHAREBACKS AND A FREEZE ON YOUR PAY PAL ACCOUNT...well according to this nice fellow from Pay Pal here is how that works..EXAMPLE..YOU HAVE $300.00 DOLLARS IN YOUR PAY PAL ACCOUNT AND YOU GET A CHARGE BACK OF SAY $20.00..PAY PAL ONLY FREEZES THE $20.00 NOT THE WHOLE ACCOUNT AND THE OTHER $280.00 BALANCE IS FREE TO USE....ANOTHER QUESTION I ASKED IS THIS SELLER PROTECTION THAT PAY PAL OFFERS..WELL ACCORING TO HIM YOU DO NEED SOME KIND OF TRACKING NO. TO VERIFI THAT GOODS PER SAY WERE SENT..SO THAT MUST MEAN UPS TRACTING NO. IS GOOD TO GO AND USA MAIL INSURED WITH THE BLUE FORM..(OVER $50.00) TO USE THIS FORM WHERE PERSON RECEIVNG ITEM HAS TO SIGN FOR SAID ITEM..AND BY DOING THIS YOU THE SELLER ARE PROTECTING YOUR SELF ABOUT AS WELL AS YOU CAN, OR IF USING GREEN FORM FOR INSURANCE UNDER $50.00 NET WORTH THEN WOULD BE WISE TO SEND PRIORITY MAIL WITH DEL. CONFORMATION PLUS INSURED TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE..
I have never had a problem using Pay Pal and
So would be interesting to hear if any other people got a nice phone cal from Pay Pal and their comments on all of this

Thank you for that PayPal Public Service Announcement!
Now how about contacting that 'nice fellow' from PayPal and ripping him a new one about the fee gouging PayPal has put into effect? Ask him if he thinks their rates are fair?
Maybe the 'nice fellow' can make up some pretty words to make it all NOT seem so bad and we'll all continue bending over and taking it!

FYI my post was not a Pay Pal public service announcement!!! Just sharing a experience i had with them is all.....like all the many expereinces shared here..
If you are tired of getting it where it hurts when you bend over then try standing up for a change and take charge of what you need to to do to make you happy... and if you want to talk to the people at Pay Pal then call them a 1-402-935-7733 and see if you can get some release from all the pain......

If you don't like it just drop 'em its easy. If PayPal went out of business because they went bankrupt complying with the live free or die mentality of some of their users you wouldn't have them to kick around anyway. Just go get a merchant account and see how that works out for you.

Did this caller ask you for any private information? Like your password or account info?
It seems so uncharacteristic of paypal to "call out of the blue" I was just wondering if this was someone else trying to get info on your account.

I've actually received two "out of the blue" phone calls like that from PayPal. With approx. 8 million users what's the chance you'd hear about it on a board? I'm not a powerseller, I don't even qualify for their merchant rate (although ironically Billpoint just upgraded my account to Merchant status).

..Life is like email, sometimes 'some people' just don't get it...
Pay Pal IS a service and for that you gotta pay..!!! So they increase their rates...So what..??
Add that to the cost of doing business and if you can't come out ahead, you're in the wrong business...PERIOD..!!!
Don't want to pay, don't use the service...

As I said, I'm done with them. I sure as heck am not going to pay long-distance fees to call them so I can voice my opinion to some PayPal airhead so it can go in one ear and out the other. I can talk to a wall and get about as much enjoyment.
I'm just a little bit leery of twisttwinkles post due to the fact he/she has been registered here at AW since September and have only posted 3 times? 2 of which popped up today sounded like cheerleader posts for PayScrew.
The first post sounded like an attempt to put PayScrews Terms of Service into laymen's terms for those of us who don't understand how wonderful and beneficial their services are. Pbssssttt on that!
If you aren't a PayPal employee, Twisttwinkle, accept my apology for assuming so and my pity for your falling for their fake concern about your happiness. Hope you enjoyed the air they blew up your skirt.
As for getting a merchant account. I've checked the rates locally and to be honest PayPal is right up there now with merchant accounts that I would qualify for. I just don't want to mess with credit card phone calls, the swiping machine, etc. I really don't think paying Paypal to do it for me is worth it either.
As I've stated in other posts, Billpoint is giving me a flat rate of 35¢ on transactions under $15. PayPal wants 2.9% + 30¢. I don't have to jump through any hoops and beg for a .7% decrease like I would with PayPal. I want PayPal to loosen the noose on sellers under $15!!! Is PayPal going to match my Billpoint rate?? Don't think so!
