FYI
I know everyone likes to hear a happy ending, and seeing as Joice locked my last thread, I felt a quick update was in order.
The "situation" with the glass piece has been mutually resolved, with no bad feelings on either side of the border. High bidder has also left me pos feedback.
Thanks to everyone who offered some helpful advice, greatly appreciated!
And just to save any further anon emails from a certain fan club, here's an open letter to all of you.
FYI -
The thread was locked due to my customer asking for it to be locked, and his posts were removed for the same reason. Quite frankly I'm disappointed Joice locked it, I was just starting to have some fun. Unlike your friend, I handle anything & everything tossed my way.
If I couldn't, I wouldn't post on a public board.
I knew from the get go that some loser would go running to my customer with the link to the thread, so it didn't come as a surprise when he showed up. At least I have the stones to stand by my words, and a non
anon ID. More than what I can say from the little group that has been emailing me.
What I find amazing is that some of you can go back 90 days, or more, to find ONE snide comment I've made on AW, but seem to miss any & all snide comments your pal has made in the past.
Get over it already, I have.
Moderator - feel free to lock this baby up.

I still find it funny how when other poster's customers are invited to the threads you love it....
But when YOUR customer was invited to the thread, the person who invited them was called a "weenie" and a "loser".
Quite the double standard, but not quite unexpected.

Reddeer,
Glad everything worked out. I almost posted to the thread yesterday too, but felt it best to just stay out if it.
As for the person who invited the buyer-- there's always going to be someone who wants to stir things up. At least you were able to resolve it well.
Take care.

Love is many things, but never funny.
The difference in MY thread is I always gave MY customer the benefit of the doubt.
And that as you say, is the TRUTH.
FYI - I couldn't stand tattle tales when I was a child, and I still can't.
Sorry if the outcome was a big disappointment to you., and your pals.

Red-deer: This was not a disappointment at all! Finding out one's true colors is never a disappointment
And for the record, I too, think whoever contacts posters' buyers/sellers is nothing but a troublemaker. I've seen it done on other threads and always felt that whoever contacts a posters' buyer/seller is just someone who likes to stir up trouble.
I cannot stand tattle-tales either, so it looks like we have something in common!
As for "my pals", I don't have a clue as to who you are referring to.
Have a great 4th everyone!

Glad it all worked out and special praise to your buyer for being so understanding. Let's hope we all have great customers like him! I wish him well in his future purchases.
Best wishes to all our American friends for a great day! It is also our wedding anniversary and since we live on the border they put on a good fireworks display for us each year.

OK, I missed it somehow.
Were the scanned opaque pieces really broken from the pretty clear blue item that was pictured?

You certainly handled it better than the buttonhole incident - which has to rank as one of the worst handling of a customer request for a refund I have ever seen.
It just shows that we all need to treat buyers as human beings and not assume they are always trying to rip us off.

'Rick; Of all the gin joints in the world, she had to walk into mine"
or to put the famous Casablanca worlds into this scenario.
Of all the sellers this buyer could have encountered when an item arrived broken, she lucked out by getting Redder--- one with high integrity and honesty.
And in the end, schweethart (Humphrey Bogart voice) that's all that counts.

Neil,
Didn't get an opportunity to post on the other thread & sorry I missed all the excitement.
I never doubted for a minute that you would do the right thing by your customer..that's the type of class seller you are.
I think your customer and you are to be congratulated for maintaining a professional and civil attitude while trying to sift through the pieces (pun intended) to resolve this issue.
I'm glad it turned out positive for you both & could serve as an object lesson for some about not jumping to conclusions about a customer complaint about an item.
You didn't make fun of your customer in the thread, you didn't dismiss their complaints off hand, but instead waited to gather the facts before making a decision.
Well done to you both & how nice to see a happy ending for a change on these boards.
