I recently won an auction. I went to look up the email address so I could find the email in my email and noticed the seller with 2200+ feedback (only 3 neg all over 6 months) is no longer registered.

Would you still send them payment?

I have emailed them as I did plan to pay using funds in PayPal. I emailed them a few days ago and did not hear back. I thought maybe they are gone for the holiday.

What would you do?

I wouldn't. Not like they could get you in trouble for not paying, the risk would be all on you.

Since you obviously want the item and successfully won the auction before the seller was NARU, I'd contact the seller and express my interest in completing the transaction and inquire as to if their situation with eBay would interfere with its completion....

It could be something as simple as a dishonored credit card, expired credit card, accounting problem or some other non-transactional problem....

Personally, I'd have no problem completing a transaction with a seller with that kind of reputation.

As we were, the seller may be gone for an extended vacation around the 4th....I'd expect a response later this week...

No red flags on this one yet...

wait,he said this seller is no longer registered??
seller goes on vacation, can still be registered.
if a seller has such high feedback and no longer registerd,it is better to check with ebay and identify yourself why you want to know.
i would not send payment until i find out why and if the seller still have the item?
i remember two sisters always have nice items for sale until one got very sick and died!!!!!!!!the other never return.
also one dealer sold for 6 months from AK and up till xmas, took all the money around xmas and skipped town.

DON'T PAY!! I won an auction last August from a seller with no negs and over 2200 postive feedbacks. Sent a money order the next day for over $300. Was aware the items would be shipped in 2 boxes via UPS. When I received my order (or part of it) there was only 1 box from UPS. The first box is useless to me without the 2nd box. My first tipoff there was a problem when I asked for the tracking numbers and never got them from the seller.

I immediately emailed the seller asking if both boxes had been shipped at the same time and was assured they were. Seller promised to contact UPS and see what the problem was. I even got a phone call from UPS saying they were looking for my lost package (I now believe this was seller's hubby or some other friend or relative just pretending to be a UPS rep).

Emails flew back and forth between us until I got one stating "Nana is in Switzerland right now, caring for our dying aunt." With that, the alarm bells went off (I'm a trusting, honest soul -- it takes me a while to know when my chain is being yanked), and I immediately contacted Safe Harbor.

This stellar seller was now NARU'd! Had to beg Safe Harbor to give me the contact info, but finally got it. Phone had been disconnected, and the email address was no longer valid. Contacted their ISP -- no help there.

Contacted the local law enforcement agency, the Post office (mail fraud division), the FBI, and the FTC ( they have an internet fraud division). They are all "investigating" but so far nothing.

Almost a year later, I am poorer but wiser. I now believe that "Nana" really is in Switzerland, only with my money instead of her dying aunt!

Never again will I let a transaction go that long without taking action. I was a newbie then -- that's my only excuse.

My fault completely for not taking action sooner, but now, if I don't have goods in hand within 3 weeks after sending payment, I go after them with guns blazing!

Also use a credit card for those big purchases now, and file a complaint with my credit card company after 30 days has gone by.

Scam me once, shame on you. Scam me twice, shame on me!

I had the same thing happen to me. I won 2 auctions, 2 days apart from the same seller. I sent the money for the 1st auction. When I was getting ready to send $$ for the second one, I noticed that the seller was NARU. I said I would send the money for the second one when either A)I recieved my product from the first auction or B)he was no longer NARU. I received 2 emails from him in the course of the next 2 weeks, 1 saying he was NARU for 1 week for profanity on ebay's boards, and one saying forget it, because it was past the 10 days and he would neg me when he got back on. I never heard from him after that, including my merchandise. Oh yeah, I did hear from him one more time, cussing me out and calling me a pathetic idiot for paying so much for the widgets he sells. They were for my niece, who collects them.

If they are naru, I think you have no recourse if you do get scammed.

Long story short...my reccommendation is don't send the money.
