One small ground rule: I don't need to know how I should use AW, Seller's AssistantPro, ManageAuctions or anyone else. I use Andale for better or for worse, which up until they made a gigantic overhaul this weekend, was mostly for the better.
Anyone else use them? Have you figured out the system? Lets help each other!
AW, BTW, be prepared for the onslaught of 1000's of new users--many many people are leaving Andale in search of something that works, with good customer support. Andale obviously knows nothing about that.

I used Honesty counters, can't see them now since they don't exist anymore - what happened to the ones I currently have running? I signed up with Andale for the counters, but I can't get to the counter or tracking pages - keeps giving me an error.

At last! Somebody with the same problem I'm having! I logged into Honesty this morning to launch a couple of quick auctions, and everything's changed! I can't get into my Honesty account using the same password I used to have, and it appears that by going totally to Andale, I'm now going to have to pay the higher Andale fees. With Honesty, all I was using was the $5 base fee to host up to 5 mg of pictures. Now I'm lost in the myriad of other fees they're charging--can't get into my Honesty account--and to add insult to injury--all of the auctions I launched through them on Saturday have no descriptions! The pictures are there, but that's it. HELP! I was considering taking the day off from e-bay today, but I want to do this by choice--not because I can't get into anything!

Me too. I used honesty counters and can not
acess the view page now, as I used hidden type. As for support I emailed them for help and was reffered to FAQ as they have "900,000 cutomers and can not answer indavidual emails". Guess I will be looking for another service that interacts with people.

I just launched an auction from Auction Assistant that had an "Honesty" counter. The auction still says "Free counters provided by Honesty.com", but the counter isn't pulling up and is making the rest of my page load wait too! Off to revise my auctions. *huff*

glad I'm not the only one with this problem, I can't even find where to add counters. I used Blackthorn for 2 years and was very happy till eBay took over and changed it a month or so ago, I lost about 175.00 on that deal so I am back with auction watch where I started about 3 or 4 years ago. You get counters here along with the best support I have been able to find. Anyone got a better place to list??

candibates, why aren't you asking this on the Andale Support Forum?
I think it's even against the posting guidelines here.

Clevergirl:
gasguys is exactly right--Andale wont respond to their own message boards! I dont intend to violate any guidelines, but thought that AW would at least allow me to voice my concerns, as this affects millions of eBay auctions, since 75% of all auctions (according to Andale) use their services or products.

If you want to use Honesty, I mean Andale counters, it'll now cost you $8.95 a month.
If you register for Andale you can access a new page with all sorts of new features- all for a cost of course. That's where the counters are now. If you have anything on auctions running now you're probably SOL.
I thought if I reregistered I could access the counters I had currently running. I was taken to a page to choose what i wanted and was informed I could have all the counters I wanted.......for $8.95 a month.
Andale, I got a bulletin for you "No way in hell do I pay for counters- they're a luxury not a neccessity."
I just went to Vrane and got them for free. So take that you greedy <fill in the blank>
And as for all those other Andale bells and whistles- don't need those either. I can run my auctions just fine without your help.

Unless I'm wrong, Andale is still privately owned and not owned by ebay. I used them when they were giving away $5 per auction listed with them. They lost $1000's on that deal, but I felt obligated to give them a shot at managing my auction business. Two months later and I was gone. Too many problems and not enough customer service. Been with Goto/Channel Fusion ever since and never looked back.

Right Andale is still private owned I am sure that Scott who owned Honesty is VERY sorry he merged with Andale. eBay bought Blackthorn which was a good program till they bought it and redid it to Auction Asst. Pro or something like that for 15.00 a month or the cheap version for 5.00. I think all this is going to lead to AW raising there price also. Everyone elso has

I assume I can say this here since others are postig similar info and I'm not from any company:
Auctionworks is a great site. For $14.95 a month you get all the services (image hosting 100MB, inventory-based auction management, all the follow up bells and whistles if you want them). It's a great deal!

Hi everyone,
It's OK to discussion other services - we don't pretend they don't exist. The key is to keep your posts factual and non-promotional with no links or URLs.

Andale has killed themselves and they killed you and me (ReflectivelyYOURS.com) in the process. Instead of beta testing and incrementalism, they threw everything they had over the edge of the cliff. Hanging over the edge and watching it all drop like a rock the idiots saw some movement and defined it as "migration".
Bye the way, don't forget that Andale calls its new "fee face" FREEDOM.
Give me a break and set me FREE.
Get ready for "migration issues" to explain it all away.
Nothing at the site works. I was not able to launch a single "repeat" auction listing all weekend. When I edited my drafts, they resaved with the old data.
When I couldn't get on the site I didn't know how lucky I was. When I did get on, they either froze my computer, put me into the longest hourglass session or simply threw me out.
None of my customers can get in to close transactions.
Months ago I told top management they had the makings of a wonderful service except for the "engineer" face they put on it. At the same time I informed AW I'd be willing to pay for their service (then free) with minor changes and speed ups.
I've returned to AW and tried to piece some auctions together (finished 4) but it's been tought.
Funny, knowing that the high level of stupidity at Andale was a chronic condition, I began uploading my images to AW about a month ago just in case.
In my wildest imaginations I never thought these people would prove to be THIS stupid and incompetent.
My small operation is nothing compared to some operators and I'll bet some of them are on their way to Andale's offices with S&Ws drawn and cocked.
I have noticed a pattern in the machinations of Ebay, Paypal, Andale and others in the close knit family. They are at war with each other with a lot of hugging.
Every time one of these outfits punches and counter punches on issues that represent big bucks to themselves, they always grasp their own customers by the short hairs in a pincer movement, disembowel the only friend they have and tell us how much we should enjoy the new "feature" or "service" or "option".
If these people weren't so stupid, they would have halted this disaster by 11AM 7/7/01 and lived to fight another day.
Yes, AW, plug in a lot more servers. I've been away too long and you're looking mighty good. But please, BETA TESTING and INCREMENTALISM.
Auction Watch to the rescue. Less is more!

This reminds you of the young man who, in his youth, professed his desire
to become a great writer. When asked to define "great" he said, "I
want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that
people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will
make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"
He now works for Microsoft writing error messages.

Maybe part time for Andale too?? I think AW is going to need a lot of new equipment VERY soon for the flood of disgrunteled .com users from other sites.

Have been working on a cost comparison this morning of auction launching sites, and thought that perhaps the experience of others could speed this process along.
I'm basing my figures on launching 100 auctions per month, with an average income of $600. I want image hosting of up to 5 mg and launch scheduling. This is what I've come up with so far--
AuctionWatch--5c per listing + 1%. Therefore, 100 items will cost me $5, and 1% of $600 is $6.00 for a total of $11 per month.
Auctionworks--2% of all items sold (no listing fee) or $14.95 per month (whichever is greater.) Therefore, for sales of $600 per month, it would cost $12
AuctionFlow--Free service, but listing takes quite a bit longer as you have to click back and forth all the time.
Anyone else have any figures from sites they're using?

WS_FTP LE = free.
Webspace = free.
Rubylane counters = free.
No $$ for me. No third parties for picture hosting, templates, etc.
And AuctionSubmit is free. At pair.com you can have 50 MB of space for $4.95 a month.

Check into Channel Fusion, the old goto.com I paid a flat yearly fee of $120. I believe that they have image hosting, but I've never used it as I have my own websites for hosting. They have everything else though, and no sales percentage or listing fees. A bargain in my book.

ws_ftp95 is free
my isp gives me 5MB of storage free (and I've gotten a nice little free pic-squisher program from advice on these boards so 5MB is plenty for me)
I don't use counters because I don't do much research on hits - not that it's not valid, it's just not something I do.
So, except for eBay fees, my monetary costs to list auctions are zero.

I checked the policy of my provider that states that you cannot use their residential service for commercial purposes. I know the chances of being caught are slim but I don't need the hassle of having my service terminated, especially since I just got this cable modem thing and I have no desire to go back to dial-up.

Atari2600,
You might want to give your provider a call. I'm not supposed to use mine for commercial either, as my ISP has another tiered cost for that, but when I called them, they said eBay was fine. I'm a "hobby seller!" Heck, I'll be anything they want as long as they don't hassle me.
