In over 2 years of selling full time, I got something that totally astounded me today. Someone sent me a check and put a return address label over the name so I couldn't see who it was orignally issued to. I would have shipped this without waiting for it to clear (a category I sell in with an excellent record of paying, etc, the lady had okay feedback (not super high but no negs), and I received payment today for an auction that closed on Friday (and it came from halfway across the country.)

Anyway, I asked for another check. Said my bank wouldn't accept it, which they probably wouldn't. Just had never seen anyone do that before.

Actually I still do that. I moved over a year ago and I put address labels on my checks for the new one. I do not cover the name or ssn though.

I guess people like that are just cheap ,,,,,,, Like Me!

I probably would have just taken it to the bank had I been able to see the name. It totally was covered over. I've had people write their new address beside the old one before and say something like 'we moved' or whatever, but with even the name being covered up, I was a little leery.
