I have tons of commons (almost an ENTIRE room full!), and am considering listing some on half.com. Anyone have any opinions on selling sports cards there? Its been a while since they have opened the doors, so I am wondering what the current consensus is.

ROTFLOL! You've not tried to sell in bulk to someone lately. A relative tried to sell the inventory of a card shop and so far the highest offer is $1200 for well over half million cards, with a lot of star cards in that lot. Their cards are better than ours, so we haven't even tried as we'd probably only get a $500 offer on well over 100,000 cards.

Try www.beckett.com

There is a buy/sell/trade area where you can list individual cards for free. Click on the "Auctions" tab at the top. They have actual auctions, but the Buy/Sell/Trade is much better option for selling.

1/2 com does not get enough traffic right now, once integrated into ebay, you will get the same bidders as you get now on ebay.

This might be of interest to you. Please notice kathyg's post, in which she talks about cards and half.com. She says business is "robust", but she is dealing in vintage cards. Do you have vintage cards, or are yours newer?

We have 1955-1993, most being mid-80s, but there are still thousands from the mid 70s and before. Tons of 1964 football, 1972 baseball, 1982 Donruss baseball, 1984 football/baseball are the majority of our cards (gotta love it -- think about the rookies of those years -- McGuire, Marino, Elway, Kemp, Ripken, etc.)

The problem I see with half.com (besides traffic, and I have not sold cards there) is that for inexpensive cards (Under $5) the postage fees would deter much business. Why would I want to pay $1 shipping on a $1 card? If I wanted to buy an expensive card, I would probably try Ebay hoping to find a good deal, instead of a fixed price on half.com which would probably be more. From a buyer's perspective, don't see much reason to buy from them. Now, if you could buy multiple cards from the same person and get a break on shipping, that is one thing, but I believe half.com charges shipping for every single card!

Why not randomly put them into lots of say 100 cards. Don't look at what you put in there and maybe throw in an unopened pack or two per lot.

I've been in stores with these "grab bags" and I love the chance of getting something I don't have.

If you've sifted through them, then you could sell as a lot of commons for people who want to fill out a hand-collected collection.
