I have an auction running where I wasn't paying enough attention and listed in the title that '2' widgets were included in the lot instead of '3'. I caught it quickly, and thought, "No problem. There are no bids. I can revise it." I went through ebay's 'revise' this auction and only tried to change that 1 character in the title. I keep getting an error message after hitting the 'verify' changes button. It says "this page cannot be displayed." I decided to write to ebay. Silly me! After 2.5 days, I finally get an automated response back:

Hello,

I appreciate your time in writing to Support and realize how frustrating this must be for you.

In order to attempt to duplicate your actions, can you send us a little
bit of information? Please let us know the following:

1. Browser and browser version you are currently using (ie. Internet
Explore, Netscape, AOL, etc.)

2. Platform your operating system runs on (ie. Windows 95, Windows 98,
NT, etc)

3. The URL address for the page that you are seeing this message.

4. What steps you are taking before you verify the revisions.

5. Are you using any third party programs to list your items or store
your images. If so, what are you currently using.

We look forward to hearing back from you, at your convenience, so we can lend a hand.

Have a nice day and we'll await your reply.

Regards,

XXXX

Why do they need all of this information? Anyone know? If they do need it, then why don't they tell you to include it on the 'contact ebay' page? All I wanted was to change 1 character in the title (which I told them in my initial email). Why couldn't they just change it? By the time they get around to my reply, the auction will be over!

Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations. I guess I've been lucky. I'm only selling part time and this is my first problem with ebay.

Hi.

I ALWAYS have this problem when trying to change stuff from home. I usually use IE 5.5 for a browser, but I've noticed that if I try to revise an auction, I get the same problems you did. This also happens when I'm originally LISTING the auction, go to the "Review" page, notice a typo, hit "Back", make my correction, and hit "Submit" again....I just get either a blank white page or an error page. But if I were to submit the auction during the first go-thru, it would go through okay. It's like eBay is saying "If you can't get it right the first time, tough luck SUCKER."

I have noticed that 9 times out of 10, though, that if I encounter these problems, I'll open up Netscape browser and I can get the changes to go through alright. I just don't usually use Netscape because for reason, a lot of times my computer will sit there and grinnnnnnd and grinnnnnnd but never do anything. But when I CAN get it to work, I'll use it for listing and revisions.

Don't know why it happens - it happens to a lot of others, too. You're not alone.
