Hi Booksellers- I sold a book last week, the buyer just contacted me to say the book is "Re-Bound"... How can I tell if this is true? I find it really hard to believe, the book was in my Grandfathers collection, and sat on his shelf for my mothers entire life...Granpa was not the type to repair of spruce up anything (let alone a book). So how can I tell?

He could have purchased it already rebound? Also, could be a case of buyer's remorse and this is hard to prove?

Buyers Remorse was my gut feeling... I don't mind the return, but am afraid to relist it. Since I don't really know if this is true or not, I can't list it fairly.

check the yellow pages for used book dealers. find one that deals is antique books. take it in to them for their opinion.

If its an old book over a hundred years or more then it should not be a big deal.

Rebound means possibly new covers, backing or
boards.Old books are often rebound over the centuries sometimes more than once.

I would sooner have an older rebound book than one with no covers or loose boards.

If its supposed to have an illustrated cover then thats a different story.

If it had pictures in the listing and the buyer was familar with the piece then they should have noticed if the binding was not correct.
