I had winning bid on an item over a month ago. Three days after the auction, the seller e-mailed me stating that she wanted the money right now or else she would neg me and relist item. So I paypaled her.

Over a month later, still no item. I did file the buyer complaint with paypal. My cc has a rule that the purchase must be at least $50 for me to chargeback, and this falls short. So I am just relying on paypal.

Before I filed with paypal, I had been e-mailing her requesting status. She doesn't know the date it was mailed, nor does she have any proof it was ever mailed at all. Not even the receipt from the post office. She got hostile with me when I requested info on shipment and started sending threatening emails and now has me signed up with online gay newsletters and personals ads as a form of harassment. She's given out my name (except she changed it to the masculine form) to a gay personals that called my home.

I looked at her fb which was really high when I made the purchase and it still is. Only this time I notice almost all of the fb from over the past 3 years is from buying and not selling.

When I purchased from her with paypal, she was verified so hopefully I can get some of my money back. I cannot, however, block her emails because the email addy I used for this purchase and this ebay account was the one with my college and it doesn't give any options. You can't even create folders to store your emails with it. Nor is there an option to show headers, etc. It's just able to receive emails.

Sounds like one for safeharbor.

Geez, we really need a site somewhere that we can find the names of psycho people for our "do not bid - or buy from" lists

Good luck to you

I would continue to complain with Pay Pal. Pay Pal's rule is that the item must be shipped and they should credit your account. Ask them to follow thru with proof of shipment and explain that you never received the item. If there is proof that the item was sent, you can file a claim if it is insured. E-Bay has a $25.00 deductible on their insurance claims. Good luck. It may take a while, but one way or another you will get your refund.

I received this e-mail from the seller:

"how DARE you lie and say I refused refund when I offered you partial refund
OR choice of another book? I hope you know, Paypal mailed me back and said
that YOU may get your account revoked, so there........LIAR!!!!!!!!!"

Why would paypal revoke my account for filing a buyer complain with them?? Has paypal done this before??

This seller did refuse a refund. She said I should've paid for insurance. The item was small dollar amount and wouldn't have been worth insuring. Had she offered any proof that she had mailed it, I would've dropped it, but she did not. She refused to email a scan of the receipt or anything.

I have not had mail sent to me get lost. I live in a small town and I can have something addressed to me with just the zip code and I get it in a timely manner.

I have had a few cases where a seller ripped me off in the past couple months and never mailed the item. Three of these were from paypal and I did the buyer complaint. They got my money back on one and heard nothing back from the 2nd and then this one. Four if you count that crook that ebay kicked off recently (who had the nerve to send me spam mail couple days ago trying to sell me something else?? geez). The one I haven't heard back from was another seller from Canada who got booted off ebay and I haven't heard from him in a month. I can't even have the satisfaction of negging the creep. My credit card said they wouldn't chargeback money sent to another country, so I'm out of luck there. I'm not buying anything else on ebay, too many crooks on there. The few dollars I save on one item is nothing when you're scammed over and over again by these people.

Wow - I'm sure sorry this has happened to you. And also sorry it's soured your feelings about eBay. I've been buying on eBay for about 3 years, and have NEVER had a truly bad experience, not even once. And in the year and a half I've been selling, same thing - no bad customers. Please don't think EVERYONE is like this person!

I don't know what to tell you....could you send an email to her ISP reporting her harassment and threats? Usually most ISPs have an [email protected] email address where you can report people like this. I don't know what else I would do!

I'm sorry this happened to you too, there are some shady characters out there!

I just wish every one who thinks ebay is full of crooks and frauds would bid on my auctions... I'm a GOOD seller!

ps.. I'm only wacko in a fun sort of way!

I wouldn't worry. When you filed with PayPal, they sent a message to the seller requesting proof she sent it. Since she didn't insure it, she more than likely has no proof and you will get a form letter crediting your PayPal account with the money. Unfortunately this takes a long time, a month or more.

What kind of scumbag CC do you have -- they won't chargeback $ sent to another country, they won't chargeback under $50....

I'd look for another one.

Tigress,

Sorry you've had such a bad time. I am mostly a seller, but on that occasion when I DO buy,I usually have some sort of question about the item and email. usually, the email will tell me all I need to know about the seller.

I also insure EVERYTHING, regardless of value and mention it in my emails and enclosure with payment "..includes USPS INSURANCE ....".

capotasto,

even better. each time you call the customer service with a question, they bill you for it. 50 cents. So they charged me 50 cents to tell me I couldn't do a chargeback. They charged me $100 account startup fee and $30 cc issue fee. But I couldn't get another card with anyone else

My credit is too bad to get another credit card. When I was married, my ex signed my name to multiple loans and credit cards running up a lot of debt. The lawyers told me it was ok for him to do it because in that state spouses can sign for each other. I'm over $500,000 in the hole, which is why I sell on ebay. I make income that these people can't garnish.

Amazing enough, this seller's name fits her to a t. Can't post it here though lol.

Had I used another email site, I could block her emails, but the college email doesn't have any options. You just receive and send. Old system...dos based and they've used it since they first got computers lol.

Just a suggestion regarding proof of shipment. I use a PS Form 3877 book in which I list every shipment made with the post office (priority mail, first class, media mail, un-insured) whatever. There are 15 lines per page and a place where you list the insured value. If an item is not insured, I simply place -0- in that column. When the post office takes my packages, the clerk counts them and marks the total number of pieces I am mailing. One column is a place for the name and address of the purchaser. The clerk then stamps the entire page with date stamp. When I get back I tear the page out, staple the post office receipt to it and file it in a loose leaf book. Then if there is a question as to when an item was shipped, I have the proof right there with the post office date stamp.

Just got another email from this woman. Now, this is all over a very small $$ amount. All I had requested from this woman was some proof that she sent it. She refuses. All it requires is a receipt from the p.o.

"did you not say 'I am sure it'll turn up'? I still have the e-mail from you
stating that. You never followed up, and I already told you that I do not
have any tracking info or anything because YOU did not purchase it. YOU did
not purchase insurance, I offered you partial refund or replacement of
another title and YOU said 'I'm sure it'll turn up'. I mailed the book the
CHEAPEST way there was because that is what YOU paid for, so don't blame ME!

I don't care if it was your post office or mine, either way it was lost, and
you've lost any possibilities of me being polite and giving you anything for
your loss. I now have a negative feedback because of you, and it is a
complete lie, and it will effect MY sales.

So now who is behaving maturely and professionally? I was being nothing but
polite to you, and out of the blue (which I asked you to wait until the 22nd
of July being that bookrate does move slow, AND you did not pay until the
21st, which is STILL is not the 21st, and you said you paid a month ago on
my feedback, which it still isn't the 22nd of July [this would be lie number
2 from you]) and I get a mail from paypal stating you've placed a complaint
against me...

I have requested from Paypal that you have to purchase a square trade
mediator for my negative feedback to be removed if I am found as the
innocent party in this. I am requesting a transcript from my ISP of all
incoming mails from you to me, and outgoing from me to you that I am having
faxed to Paypal, Good luck!"

She can't even get her dates right. Can paypal force me to pay for services??

What a freakin' psycho!!! I'm sure glad that you are only out a small amount with her but I think she's delusional as well. She definitely needs meds!

I don't think she can do anything to you as far as forcing mediation.

"So now who is behaving maturely and professionally?" Not her; that's for sure...

This is really scary! This seller sounds like she has a screw loose. Have you notified SafeHarbor? I would think that would be illegal for her to sign you up for all that porn and stuff! I am just sitting here reading your post with my jaws hanging open. I cannot believe this seller is so deranged! Uggggh, hope it gets better for you!

HMmmmmm,"wacko" seller you say! I have never seen one person with so many problems as you. Buy or sell, there is allways a "problem". How can this be?

I see that on one of your recent deals you left the seller a big fat neg. Yet you state that this was a "awesome seller", fast ship, would buy from again."

A mistake you say? How can that be? The page does warn you in big letters that you are about to leave a neg.

Maybe it's time to pull out one of your 1200 id's, and start over again.

My advice to you would be to pull back and take a break. I do mean this in a kind way.

It may be true that we're only hearing one side of the story, but if those emails are for real, then the seller sure isn't showing any restraint or politeness in the responses.

gs4,

So what? And when did I say a neg I left was a mistake? I am very careful about the fb I leave now. I know a positive from a negative. I cannot click one without doing it on purpose since it says positive, neutral, and negative right next to the hole you select before hitting submit. I hit positive in that instance too.

That ripoff artist I posted about before had ripped off at least 200 people before ebay booted him off. I guess if you encounter one of these types I can sit at my computer blasting you for it.

I haven't had many problems with a buyer other than a few deadbeats and one bounced checks. I'm not going to stop selling. Most of my buyers are great. I even get tips a lot of times because I treat my customers like I want to be treated. A bunch recently couldn't do english very well and were Hispanic. I worked with them and got their stuff to them (after they paid of course). One sent a $30 tip after he got his stuff.

But being ripped off of a few bucks or more here and there by these sellers is becoming a bit much. I buy a lot of books, cds, and movies on ebay because I have no cable out where I live and antenae don't work. So I get these things for entertainment. I spend several hundred a month on books and movies. When I'm done with them, I auction them back off. So far I haven't met too many good book and movie sellers. I had one movie arrive yesterday, however, and this seller was so good he even put microwave popcorn in to munch on during the movie. He values his customers obviously. He'll be getting a lot of my business from now on. I even paid this guy nearly a month late because I have gotten so weary of getting ripped off after all the bad experiences lately. I was figuring I hadn't deadbeated before, so one won't hurt and I'll never buy again. I went ahead and paid and he actually sent the item. I was surprised to see it. I'm planning on sending him a little extra for the popcorn and great service.

I don't ever complain about shipping costs. To me shipping is a service that saves me a lot of time running around hunting for something. I charged up over $2000 on movies and cds since just end of April. Over $7000 since November. And so many sellers don't value me as a customer and threaten with negs and stuff few days after the dang auction ends. Hell with these sellers. I sometimes think ebay sucks royally.

The seller I am talking about is still registered and his buyers all seem fairly happy. Now he has a big fat neg with a "positive" response.

I am not blasting you. I have just seen you come here almost daily with a major buyer or seller problem.

You can post as much as you like but I find your credibility somewhat lacking.

No one likes to be ripped off but for the most part I find most sellers and buyers to be honest people.

I don't agree that ebay sucks.
